You can format it and there will be nothing on the card. You will lose, pictures, music etc that is on the card, so store those items somewhere else before you format if you would like to keep them.

New to the desire , love it , amazing phone . Just a few questions :
1 - i remeber reading on here that a user had a program which allowed him to set the phone to do things at certain times. For example - 5 pm when he got home , 3g turned on and wifi turned on , 8am downloaded the guardian , 9am switched to silent . Any one have any idea what this program was called ?
2 - ive set up a news feed to the bbc , how do i get it automatically refresh throughout the day , at the moment i have to press the press button ?
3 - im on Orange , is Froyo 2.2 out yet ? if so how do i download it , its running 2.1 at the mo

cheers

The app I use to change phone settings at certain times is Timeriffic v1.09.02 Application for Android | Tools, for th auto download of the guardian newspaper, I think the guardian app itself has the settings for that.

Not 100% sure on the news feed, so hopefully someone else can answer that.

I think Orange havent recently announced a delay for their 2.2, although I seem to remember its still due for late september. I know people that are on Orange that have upgraded to 2.2, but they must have had unbranded phones.

I use Locale it is very adaptable. I use it in a number of ways. If I an area covered by certain phone masts between 8 and 4 monday to friday it will turn on vibrate, if I am within the boundary of my wifi it turn the ringer up and change the time out on my screen. If there is a forest game on my calander then when the time comes for the game to start it turns my soccre scores notifications on.

What is the difference between co-pilot sat nav and the google sat nav on the desire, is it ggogle sat nav uses data, and co-pilot is standalone sat nav software which does not eat into data allowance?

Hi, how do you sync your gmail periodically i.e. once an hour?

in the accounts and sync settings there is no option to specificy the intervals.

I have an unbranded Desire now from Amazon i ordered it the one day and it came the next all wrapped aswell lol. to Amazon for another great service. I updated the software to 2.2 certain apps will not uninstall from it though ie Stocks. I would have thought with it being unbranded on 2.2 i could uninstall any of the apps on the phone ?

If its part of HTC sense, which I think Stocks is, it will be part of the Android ROM and cannot be uninstalled.

I have a HTC Desire that I got from o2 that has o2 branding/splash screen, and which I have used with a o2 simpicity sim. Ive just got the £10 per month Tesco mobile pay monthly deal with 500mins, unlimted texts and 500mb data.

Ive found some tesco apn settings & the internet seems to be working (unless its working of my wi-fi, but my wifi appears to be off?) I have no icon near the signal bar saying what my phone is using? with o2 I would have "H" "G" or "E" I cant see anything though, anybody know how I can find out what the phone is using to connect to the internet if those symbols aint there?

I also have a notification:

Sign-in error for *********@gmail.com (my gmail account, that I use to go on the market, etc, set up with my o2 chip) I click the notification and it asks for my password, when I click okay I get........

"Google sign-in: There was a network error while trying to sign in to ******@gmail.com. Retry now or press the Back button to cancel." and whn I press "retry" the same thing happens. I logged into my gmail account by my pc to check im entering the correct password? any advice? is it because I changed sim card?

Ive just put my o2 sim back in and I'm getting the same error message, any advice or help appreciated Edit: It does log in with my o2 sim card, I just never switched the APN settings back to the o2 ones

Nope, stuff like stocks is virtually impossible to remove. The only way to remove is to root it, and then before you flash the custom ROM, delete the APK from the zip file.

If you're using the HTC news widget, then press where it says "All stories" at the top to take you into your list of subscriptions, then press the Menu button - Settings - Update schedule.

Another way is to go to Settings - Accounts & sync and click on News - Account settings - Update schedule.

Also, under Settings - Accounts & sync, make sure that Background data and Auto-sync are checked.

After ALL the research I have done I have gone for the HTC instead of the iphone, hope I'm not disappointed.

My phone is due to arrive today (Orange network), any tips from anyone in what to do with the phone early stages i.e. what apps to install straight away (as can't live without them), length of time to charge the phone before use etc.

Thanks

By the way, it's like Christmas althougth I don't know at what point santa (delivery bloke from DPD) is going to come!!!!!!!
