Got my Hero today, very cool, I like it already.

Run into a bit of a problem though. Although I can browse the web, use Google location services (for the clock/weather widget), I can't actually log into my existing Google account - gmail etc. That means I can't get to the marketplace or anything. I go through the setup wizard, enter my gmail.com username and password, but just get the following error:

Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server.


Not sure what would cause this as the phone is definitely working and I can browse the web.

Any ideas? Thanks!

You need to do it the first time you start the phone, if you don't you will get this error.

Do a factory reboot, or install the latest ROM, and make sure you set our account up the first time the phone starts up.

It's ok now, it started working the following morning with no changes. Must have been a problem communicating with google servers at the time.
