Quick newbie question re: taking Hero abroad

Hi,

Apologies for a new thread with a newbie question, have had my Hero for a couple of weeks, but work meant haven't had a chance to play with it properly yet. I'm going to the US tomorrow, and don't want to incur any roaming/mobile internet etc charges (i'm with Tmobile), but was wondering whether I can use the GoogleMaps app and not incur any charges? It'd stop me checking the map of where I ended up on my wanders.

I appreciate the answer may be a bit obvious, but halfway through my packing and hoping someone can just tell me what i need to know. Thanks.

Re: Quick newbie question re: taking Hero abroad

Just wondering whether anyone can confirm either way whether the GoogleMaps app can work with no mobile internet, just based on GPS? Would be extremely helpful and can be locked and forever forgotten..

Re: Quick newbie question re: taking Hero abroad

Google Maps requires a data connection to download and display the maps, so you do need mobile internet for it to work. If you don't have a roaming data bundle, it's going to be expensive to use.
