HTC Touch Diamond suckage...

......ok.
When i got this heap of junk on release day back in July 2008, it went back 2 days later for replacement (great sign ).
The 2nd one worked much better but after a few months it got very sluggish. I've only ever installed 2 apps, vodafone sat nav and some other thing that NEVER worked.
So i wiped it last year some time and put on rom version 1.93.161.2 WWE.
I don't use my sat nav too often but its not worked since june time. It just never picks up any satellites and thus cannot be used. It worked fine for about 6 months i guess.
Its also really sluggish again, eg, if i unlock the phone to reply to a sms i've just received, it would literally take over 1min for the 'reply' menu to show. Or if i want to make a call, i use the touchflow to get to 'people' but again it takes over 1 min before it will allow me to scroll through my 10 faves that are in there. (hardly a huge list).
So, having spoken to vodafone....i'm ready to update to rom 1.97.xxx.x (whatever).

Now, i have my exchange mail synching with the TD and want to copy my contacts off before wiping the device as they have some contacts in from previous that aren't in my exchange contact list.
Currently my contacts are in the phone and not the sim. If i copy them to the sim they will be edited down to shorted file names etc.

When attaching the phone to the pc and using the 'disk drive' mode, i was hoping to find somewhere that holds the contacts so i can offload them to the pc, but nope!

Can anyone help with this please? It's really just my contacts i want to save. My exchange is work email. I never connect the phone to the pc for any activesync purposes, purely for disk drive mode and copying files off/on device.
And any advice on why its so damned slow would be nice

Any help much appreciated, thanks.
