Hero battery life and how to improve it?

Hi all,

Had my Hero for about a week now and I'm looking for ways to improve the battery life. During the first few days I obviously used it intensively and I got less than a days life from it. That was fine as I was on it a lot, but now I've slowed my usage I'm not seeing a great improvement.

I've cut down the regularity with which email, apps etc are checking for updates and turned off the backround data use but I'm still only seeing about a days worth of life.

What else can be done to improve things, if anything? I obviously do want to use all the features (which is why I bought the hero), but perhaps not every 5 minutes and I just want it to last longer...

I saw one app mentioned (Y5 battery saver, I think) which switches you between wifi and mobile internet and was quoted as helping. Does this mean that wifi uses less battery than the mobile internet?

Any help appreciated, thanks.

Re: Hero battery life and how to improve it?

Also, how much more draining on the battery is it to have my email through exchange set to get items 'as they arrive' as opposed to checking at scheduled intervals? Does it check constantly thereby placing a huge strain on the battery or is all the work done on the network side?

If the latter, then downloading 10 emails in one go or one at a time over several hours should be exactly the same as far as battery use is concerned, no?
