Ok, I checked this and I confirm there's a problem. I received a call from my brother so I could test without the other party getting upset

I set the device on SPEAKER, pressed the volume down button all the way down, yet it didn't mute the call. I then turned off SPEAKER, volume all down, yet I could still hear my brother and pretty loud I add. I also pulled the menu down, pressed MUTE, yet I could still hear my brother. I finally tapped MENU, chose MUTE and this seemed to work. But seriously, volume all down, I move the device from my ear and still can hear the other person is a big bug.

I'm afraid there's an issue with volume indeed and a search in this thread shows I'm not the only one

Another question for someone. Just put an album onto the phone. That plays absolutely fine but its not showing the album cover? The album cover is in the same folder as the mp3's when i copied it over to my hd2.

You need to set it up as "other"
Enter email and password
Add your name and account display name
Incoming server is mail.o2.co.uk leave as pop3
outgoing is smtp.o2.co.uk
tick outgoing server requires authentification.
Should be done.
Name the cover as "folder.jpg"

many thanks to all that have helped me today. Got all my contacts and emails sorted. Media playback works well and got iplayer sorted.

I'm still not 100% happy with the opera browser as it still defaults to mobile versions of certain sites even though I've followed the advice on here.

Im impressed with the speed of the browser as it seems far quicker than the iphones, but for me its more of a pain to operate. Certain sites such as this one dont seem formatted properly for the screen and its annoying me having to scroll about to read posts etc. I never had to do this on the iphone.

The only other real problem i have is posting messages on forums via the phone. Before i'd typed out a pretty big message and then all off a sudden my keyboard just disappeared and the back button was hit therefore losing 10 mins of txt work on the keyboard! Now this has happened twice now lol!!

So far im still getting into it and im still in two minds whether to keep it or not.

I love how you can tweak it and its unbelievable in terms of customisation but so far i cant help feeling im tweaking stuff to make it as good as the iphones versions (web browsing and media) and somewhere along the way im feeling letdown.

Maybe its just new phone syndrome and i just have to give it some time!

Hello All,
My very first post so please be gentle with me. Just received my HD2 today and would like to ask some questions.

1) What screen protection are you guys/gals using?
2) What's the best SDHC card for this beauty?
3) Anyone here using Skyfire Browser? If you do would you recommend it?
TIA.

Not using any screen protection. Never did on the iphone either and that never had a mark on it.

Well ive yet to get a bigger card but i will be going for a sandisk class 2 16gb

Just tried skyfire browser and found it awful compared to Opera and IE.

I've gone back to my Bold. I just can't get used to typing on a onscreen keyboard.

Thanks for replying...
What's your reason for going Class 2 instead of Class 4 or 6?
Will play around with skyfire and post my experience .

I also got this problem but can't remember what I was trying to do. Most likely, the device could not connect to wi-fi.

id rather get a better brand of card at a class 2 then a unknown brand at a higher speed.

I think defaulting to mobile versions is a setting. I opened IE, then selected the button bottom right a dash with 4 dots above it, then the button on the far right with 4 lines on it, Tools, Options, Other. In Opera, again its the far right button, then Settings, Display, and uncheck Mobile View.

The sad thing is that the screen is fantastic for viewing things, but its so wide (when using phone in landscape, which incidentally I got to work once I'd reset the phone having installed a bunch of very useful xda cabs) for me it makes using full qwerty impossible, my hands just aren't big enough, however the up side is the phone keyboard text version is AMAZINGLY quick and SO reactive. Hardly a word spelt wrong since I aligned the screen and changed the 'blurry edges' on the text, all very clean, neat and accurate for me.

Yeah weird thing is my mobile view has always been disabled in Opera.

Its mainly the bbc site that stays on mobile and thats a wind up as i heavily use that site!

Do you have MMS enabled on your account?

Having never sent an MMS Im not sure if that was only on the iPhone account you had to actually enable it? Is that the same for all contracts?

I have, I'm with O2 and it just 'worked', as did pretty much everything else as soon as I put my sim card yesterday. I've even forgiven them for the fibs and stories about when it was due in I'm so chuffed. Except .. I've just realised I've spent a day customising it and I haven't installed the 1.48/9 rom you've all talked about .. can I do that now without affecting everything I've set up?

(Particularly like the xda cab that gave me a camera soft key)

Does anyone know if there is a 'message sent' fix I can install? My Samsung used to have a envelope flying around the screen until it was actually sent .. on this I have to check the sent box to make sure its actually gone

Thanks

Hi Folks,

I'm on my second HTC HD2 because the first one had very poor reception. Second one is much better but I'm having lots of issues with it over and above that. Haven't had a chance to read this whole thread but here are my issues:

1) Regular freezing. Seems to me that HTC Sense is crashing and that brings the whole machine down.

2) It has frozen several times when I've tried to unlock it with the slider.

3) In some apps the touch screen is hypersensitive, e.g. Mail, keyboard and HTC Peep but in the Opera browser I have to jab at a link half a dozen times before it's clicked.

4) On both phones, the FM radio has a frequent click/drop out which seems to be a "design feature" and really bugs me, plus it seems to drain the battery at a helluva pace - much more than I expected.

I dropped HTC phones a few years ago after having a XDA Exec - great PDA, rubbish phone. This one seems to be pretty lousy as a PDA too at the moment.

I've got the weekend to see if I can sort out some of these issues to my satisfaction or it goes back on Tuesday for a swap with an iPhone 3GS.

Any hints and tips would be most appreciated. Will be trawling XDA Developers too.

Cheers,

jah

I have problems 1,2, and 3 but I have yet to try the FM... I am not really concerned about the radio at the moment but want to get the basics working first...
