Connecting Samsung TV to Samsung home cinema.

Hi All,

Im a newbie and require some assistance. I have a 32" Samsung LCD TV, with anynet+. I have connect all the speakers as in the manual.

My issue is this: I have connected the Samsung HT-Z325 to my TV via HDMI. When I put the TV on with the home theatre, there is no sound output, however when I load in a DVD or music CD, it plays out of the home theatre. I want the TV sound to come out of the home theatre.

Can anyone PLEASE help me, as Im at my wits end trying to figure it out, ive read the manual 3 times.

Also the Anynet function is not linking the 2 Samsung systems.

HDMI is one way only for video and audio signals, in your case the HDMI is carrying video from the DVD to the TV. You need to connect from a audio output on the TV to your surround. Probably a optical cable between them will work.

I have a PS3 which i wish to have the sound go through the thetre system too.

Please list me the cables and connections.
Here is what i have so far.

Home cinema to TV- HDMI
PS3 to TV- HDMI

I want TV sound and PS3 sound to come out of the home cinema system, but home cinema system only has 1 optical output port.

You need a optical switch then and three optical cables, connect the ps3 and the TV to the switch and then the switch to your surround.

Also you have to change the settings on the PS3 so that it outputs audio over optical instead of HDMI.

PS - You can't go thru the TV for 5.1 audio from PS3 (HDMI to TV then optical to surround), as your TV will not pass 5.1 from externally connected devices thru it (very few tv's do). You need a direct connection to the surround (via the switch) for 5.1.

Yes. You can get powered switches or combined HDMI/digital audio switches but ultimately you need a switch full stop.

I seem to have a simular problem, I've tried to connect my HT BD 1252 Home Theatre System to my Ue40B7020 TV, both which I've just bought and although I can get a picture when I connect via the AV leads, I want to connect via HDMI so I can use the Anynet + feature and to get the best out the system but it's saying no signal......please please plase help!!!!

Just for your info I have V+, which I've connected to TV via Scart lead and have connected the V+ to the HTBD 1252 using a optical lead, have also bought a optical lead for between TV and Home Theatre and this doesn't seem to make any difference either

Your lucky your 1252 has two optical inputs so you don't need a switch.

Connect the V+ via optical to the 1252, select the appropriate input by using the function button (either D.IN1 or D.IN2). Same for the TV, but do you ever you use the internal tuner of the TV or is all your tv watching thru V+, if its thru V+ you can save this connection for another device.

Connect V+ via scart to the TV, and the 1252 via HDMI to the TV. TBH I know nothing about Anynet+ other than its Samsungs implementation of HDMI CEC, which most people seem to think is more trouble than its worth.

I went into currys yesterday, and explained my issue to the TV guy there. He said i coud use the optical cable from PS3 to Home theatre, and then a RCA plugs ( phono leads) to connect home theatre to TV.

Does this sound right to you folks?

Hi i have picked up from here that i need an optical cable for surround sound to come from my samsung home theatre when in tv mode. However, the sky man said i needed to connect the optical cable from the sky box to the home theatre to get v sound? do i need to connect both tv and sky via optical? why cant things just be plugged in any more?

If all your Tv watching is via sky, then there's no need to connect the TV audio out to your surround as you will never use it. Just connect Sky+ via optical to your surround for audio and scart to the Tv for video.

Im pretty sure they do, it seems to have worked, all i have to do now is wait for my optical cable to connect my PS3 to my H/C unit, and adjust the PS3 settings.

ild like to ask you a similar question. Just purchased a Samsung LCD TV 40'' 650 and a Panasonic Home Cinema combo (SC-BT100). although the home cinema system works perfectly I cannot ouput sound from the TV to the home cinema. TV and home cinema are hooked up via a HDMI 1.3 clable (hence they're Anynet+ visible and interworking) and I've also hooked them up with an optical cable for outputing (hopefully) sound from the TV. everything (?) I've tried does now work. can you help me as to what to double check on the TV? (cutting of TV speakers in favor or expernal speakers? any menu on setting the optical ouput? anything home system wise? - Thanks in advance

I would imagine that the TV outputs audio over the digital optical connection by default. That said, I would check the audio menus to see if it has to be enabled. You didn't specify a model numbers so I can't look up the online manual at the Samsung site. However, you should be able to check that it is working by disconnecting the cable at the SC-BT100 end, if a light is emitted it should be working fine.

Did you select the external digital input on the remote? In order to hear the TV's audio, you need to tell the SC-BT100 to go to an external input.

I would also check that the cable is fully connected at each end and if necessary try another one, if you have checked the above with no joy.

Hi Davepuma, thanks for the prompt response! the link to the manual is download center SAMSUNG , it's the LE40B650T2W model. I've checked but there seems nothin more to do. I don't know if I'm corrent in turning off the TV speakers in favor of external.

Hi DavePuma. the manual is in english. You can right click and choose to save (open takes many minutes so just save). I'm selecting either D-IN or AUX-TV on the home stereo. as I'm out right now I'll have a closer look in the afternoon and get back to you. Once again many thanks!

Hello again, I've tried everything and still no result. From the Panasonic Home cinmea BT-100 side I select D-IN (via optical cable) and set the systems as requested to TV Sound. No result. From the Samsung side the Hoem cinema system when scanned for devices momentarly identifies it a PLAYER and then RECEIVER but directly afterwards lists it simply as player. I'm mentioning this as from the Sasmung side I have conflicting suggetsions. the service center guys mention that the D-OUT port is always ON and you don't need to set anything on the TV set and the user guide which at one point mentions that when connecting to a Home Cinema system you may have to go to the Anynet+ (device) list and toggle the RECEIVER function from off to on. the thing is that my devices when scanned is accessed and appears only as player and not as receiver. samsung is now claiming either a) non compatibility between their D-OUT to the Panasonic's D-IN (TV) !!!! or b) damaged optical cable (by the way hooked it up to a Sony DVD player via optical and still no sound thru the Home cinema system!) or (most probably!!!) c) length of the tip of the optical cable too short -> change cable. D-day is Monday as I'm going over to Panasonic for on site test. any suggesitons?

Ensure the DVD player you are trying to use is set to bitstream in the audio setup. I would definitely try another optical cable as it seems suspicious that two devices won't output sound. It can only therefore be the cable or pehaps the Samsung h/c system if faulty.

Hi Guys, new here and a complete numb nuts when its comes to anything AV.



I bought this Samsung HT-Z325 Home Cinema surround sound system about 2 weeks ago and was told by someone in the shop this is the best way to set it up.



I have a PS3 and a Virgin V+ Box, I am running both PS3 and V+ into the TV (LG 42LH3000) via HDMI then outputting the TV to the Samsung DVD/AMP via optic. I am doing it this way because there is only 1 Optical input on the AMP. Now I do get sound through all speakers but wouldn't say I am too happy with it. Do I need an optical switch for true surround sound for this as everything is running through the TV into the Samsung.

It sounds like your TV is only passing 2.0 stereo. Can you confirm what audio format you're hearing? I do think that you'll need to connect each source direct via the switch to benefit from true discrete 5.1 audio.

Thanks for your reply mate, I am at work at the moment so I have no idea. I will have a look tonight but I might just plug the PS3 direct via optic into the Samsung, V+ into TV and then TV into Samsung via component/ Do you think that may be the best option as I forgot to mention there was mili second sound delay on the PS3.

Does your home cinema system have any audio delay function? Also try turning off any video processing on the TV which may be compounding any lip sync issues.

Sometime the sound goes completely flat and dull for a short while.

Other times the sound just comes out of one or two speakers, but then goes back to normal by itself.

At first I thought it was Sky, or the program, but it is not, becaue=se if you turn the volume up on the remote, the sound reverts to normal. ther times, it only lasts a few seconds anyway, and then reverts to normal.

Very odd and very annoying. Anyone any idea ?

Hi there, ive got exactly the same problem and dont know how to cure it.

I have a brand new LG 32" TV, new Samsung Home Cinema System and an Xbox 360. There all connected via HDMI & I even bought a Digi Opti Cable for the TV to go to the cinema system but its not working.

I cant get any sound on the Samsung cinema system when I use my TV. I think your supposed to use the Aux/D-In facility but ive tried & still no sound! Ive even fiddled with turning the TV speakers on/off but no joy. Im pretty certain my sound setup on the samsung cinema sys is RGB rather than HDMI so why isnt it working - DOH!

What am I doing wrong? Does it matter which end the digi opti cable gets connected to the devices, both look the same to me? That said it was a cheapy off Amazon and having read through the posts Im starting to wonder if its a faulty cable but its brand new.

TV is an LG 32LH3000, Cinema system is a Samsung HT-Z320R.

Any ideas much appreciated
