You have to grab freesat epg from a freesat info (radio?) Channel

Slight thread creep, but I have now got Digiguide working with XMLTVGUI and XMLTV Grabber Plugin and I am pretty impressed. It is a bit of a pain to get it working, but it seems to fill in quite a lot of gaps in the RadioTimes EPG. I suspect it is likely worth the £15 per year subscription costs (in fact I think it is £10 after the first year).

Jameson, do you use it for radio channels EPG too? If so, what method do you use to assign the EPG data to the radio channels?

Thanks

No I don't but IIRC you can select the all channels group and then radio channels show up (this in fact I think is the only way you can make the channels show up)

FWIW I have a Hauppague Nova S2 card which requires a fiddle to get some HD channels working.

A manual scan of the transponders from this link got me 8 SD channels per transponder, but the HD channels showed nothing at all.

This thread over at the Hauppauge forum links a new XML file to load through their MCEDVBS2PatchTool.exe choosing the "Freesat only" option to set up the registry with the extended transponder info.
Getting Ready for the Olympics

Then a manual scan of the HD transponders picked up the BBC Olympic HD channels in sets of 4 per transponder.
Then my Channel 4HD wouldn't tune any more - C4HD which reverted to DVB-S a while back so that may be the problem.

Finally a manual scan of the Channel 4HD transponder (Astra 1N, 11127, 22000, Vertical) picked up 4seven and "cured" my tuning issue for Channel 4HD.

What a faff!

Getting limited listings direct from the broadcast stream when you tune those channels, but nothing long term so I'm assuming Windows7 over the internet guide isn't supporting them

All using Windows 7 Media Centre - hope the info helps someone. Of course my 2008 Panasonic Freesat TV just asked to do a retune and worked flawlessly

Got all the Olympic channels in W7MC. Guide shows no data for the new channels. If I watch one of the channels then guide data for that transponder is populated for now and next only.

How do i get the data to auto populate? Is this the background scanner option? (which i turned off to fix S3 resume issues).

FWIW I don't have background scanning switched off and still have no data

Don't think there is any "built in" guide data for these channels in WMC7 - if you do a full transponder scan I don't think they'll even show up - you have to add them one by one. If you're not importing guide data from another source then I think now and next per transponder is all you'll see.

ok cheers - thanks for clarification.

Despite my moaning the epg data being a pain in the ass and my HD channel change being very slow. It's seriously cool to have all these extra channels available to watch what I want.

Brilliant watching the badminton in HD. Lots of people will be missing out and only seeing the mainstream coverage. Thanks to BBC and SKY for providing this coverage.

Olympic withdrawal symptoms already! The extra 24 sat channels were brilliant. Anyone know what will become of them? I'm guessing they will be deleted and Sky reclaim the bandwidth..........

currently they are still playing the Elbow theme music and timetable splash screen across all channels with the message "Thank you for watching" Love that music.

All good things ..... . It's been brilliant to have these streams available - via the Red Button also. Hope Sky use some of this space now to provide HD streams for their own Red Button sports services instead of the sub-SD offerings we get now.

Better still has been the ability to access events via the BBC website that have finished and dip in to any part that takes your fancy. Hopefully by the next Olympics Sky's catch-up technology will be fully mature and we will be accessing such streams directly through the On Demand section.

I was hoping that many (if not all) would be available for the Para Olympics too, but sadly it doesn't seem to be the case!

Not 24 channels for sure but Sky will be providing 3 extra HD streams for C4 available from 28 August on 450-452.
