It may also be the case that whichever piece of software is changing your refresh is actually detecting the correct rate. (i have some Blurays where the menu is 50/60hz and the main feature is 24hz) unfortuately this means that any detect change s/w i have come across changes frequency to that required for the menu.

my setup from xbmc is as follows.
1. default = xbmc plays everything (this works great most of the time - exceptions are forced subs / 3d /some newer titles)

2.Alternate player setup in xbmc (i choose when to use it)
Use autofrequency to handle the refresh rate change based on what it detects then launches tmt5's MCE player.

(Autofrequency also setup to mount /unmount iso's using Virtualclone drive)

3.Alternate player2 setup in xbmc (i choose when to use it -for instances where menu differs from main feature)
calls a different autofrequency profile where any detected refresh rate gets changed to 23hz, then launches mt5's MCE player.

I may add rules into my playercorefactory.xml to launch all BD's with the alternate player but at the moment i find xbmc does a good job most of the time.

i'm using 5.0.1.114 tmt5 and haven't wanted to upgrade as its not broken for me yet..

I actually found the solution yesterday. TMT5 in the 3D options had my TV listed as an Nvidia enabled 3D TV, when my TV does not do 3D at all. I'm guessing that TMT5 then switched back to 60p in order to try and do a 30p split for each eye. By switching the option to "Other Panel", TMT5 no longer attempted to switch back to 60p.

This however, brought along another problem. A stutter. It appears in fast moving scenes, and is a definitely noticable. Tried getting rid of that, and even tried the 23Hz=1 option under the .ini, but no luck. Tried PowerDVD again, and no stuttering whatsoever under 24p mode. I think at this point I'm sticking with PowerDVD, and will live with the extra play click, unless I can find an XML example which will autoplay.

hi guys

I need audio to play via both hdmi and analog at the same time an think the below will sort that for me

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=86038

I'm not clear how I actually install it though onto my pc (running Eden) as there are no idiots guide step by step instructions. Do I need to copy and paste code or how do I run the exe file. I'm fine with using the menus within xbmc but don't want to mess it up.

Thks in advance!

Not used it myself but if I've read correctly the XBMC.exe simply replaces the file in the XBMC installation folder in Program Files.

I'd rename the exisiting XBMC.exe to something like original-XBMC.exe then copy the downloaded file into the folder, then when you launch XBMC it will use the new exe file, but having kept the original it's easy to revert back. I'd also copy the xbmc folder in the Appdata folder where all your Library and other userdata is stored then paste it into a new folder, something like backup-xbmc.

new beta 5 of openelec is released which allows playback of High@L5.1 videos with AMD graphic drivers via XVBA.

OpenELEC 2.0 Beta 5 released | OpenELEC - The living room PC for everyone

if anyone is considering a linux xbmc install openelec is the best out of the box distro in my opinion. I have tried xbmcbuntu and a homebrew debian install but this is about as close to a plug and play distro as you can get. it has nice extras like pvr and other addons if you need them.

Hi all,

Im having trouble with xbmc not displaying all my movies, I have only been using it a few days so still ironing out problems ( already sorted the overscan & movies not displaying full screen due to refresh rate changes with AMD cards).

Ive done some googling and other people have mentioned it is very likely be to do with 'permisions'? Ive done a right click and compared two movies, one which is ok, the other which isnt showing in xbmx and they both look identical to me?? Has anyone else had/have this problem.

Im using Vista 64 for HTPC and movies ripped as MKVs where the movie is stored in sub folder e.g.... movies/The Karate Kid/The Karate Kid.mkv.

Hope someone can help

Can you elaborate?

It's not clear from what view you are not seeing the movies? can you see everything in File view? are you just missing movies in the Library views?

If missing from the Library views, did you set content to Movies when adding the Source folder and scan the contents for the Movie info can be scraped?

Ideally your folder & file names for the movies should include the year of release, in your example there are two The Karate Kid movies, in order for XBMC to be able to tell which one it is you should have they should be named:

movies/The Karate Kid (2010)/The Karate Kid (2010).mkv

or

movies/The Karate Kid (1984)/The Karate Kid (1984).mkv

Yes, but when upgrading I would always recommed you make a copy of the XBMC appdata.

From Run type %appdata% make a new folder say e.g. Dharma-XBMC, open XBMC folder and copy contents then paste the contents to the new folder you've created, thus giving you a backup of the data.

Most of that is likely to be due to cached copies of the thumbnails, once happy upgrade has gone alright and you're not likely to want to rollback to Dharma 10.1 then delete if you want.

Hi Jeff,

Apologies, I am not able to see them in the movies Library view (if thats the one with the posters). Also, I have quoted the year, I forgot to mention that in my example.

I havent checked to see whether they're in the file view,I also didn't realise the folder and the file had to state the year, thought it was just the folder? It scraped aprox 90% ok.

Ill check these tomorrow afternoon and report back (work nights).

thanks

Can remeber doing anything special to get it working, what happens when you select Weather?

Can only suggest that you go to the side menu in Weather and go to Settings you should then see Weather - Weather Underground (the default addon) and Settings. If you don't see a provider listed select Weather and the installed Weather addons should then be listed, if still nothing in here go to Get More at the bottom and this will list all the Weather addons available.

Also in System - Appearence - International make sure your Region is set to the UK.

Here's what I'd do.

First go to Files view and check everything is shown, then while in File view check what items don't have a thumbnail set. The items that don't have a thumbnail should be the items that have not been scanned into the Library, and everything with a thumbnail should have Movie Info available and be present in the Library.

For items that haven't been scanned into Library check the naming on either imdb or TMDb depending on which scraper you have chosen, and make sure this naming matches how you've named the folders & files. As mentioned before include year, not 100% sure this is necessary for both folder & file, but it's what I've always done and I never seem to get scraping issues.

If the naming appears ok then there are two options to get your files into the Library:

1. In File view (assuming each movie is in it's own folder) select the folder open Context menu then select Movie Information, a window will open asking you to confirm the Movie, hopefully if everything is ok there will be one choice so just select that, if XBMC is still confused it will list several choices so just select the right one. Movie should then be scanned in and Movie Info window will open and when you go back to File view you should now see a thumbnail & backgroud has been set, so go into Library to confirm item is now present.

2. Create a nfo file with the imdb url link. Going back to your example of The Karate Kid, if you have file The Karate Kid (2010).mkv create a text file The Karate Kid (2010).nfo then look up the movie on imdb and enter the url into the text file so in this example

Code:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1155076/
Do this for all movies then open Context menu and select Update Library.

Dharma 10.1 can still be downloaded from Index of /releases/win32 if you need to rollback

Just an update,

I have all my movies now showing, the offending titles were,

The Lion king Diamond edition - It didn't recognise this as it had diamond in title, my fault.
The Karate Kid - I had put 1987 as the year for some reason? Again my fault
Insidious - IMBD says the year was 2010 which it didnt recognise, Wikipedia states 2011 which I then changed it to and it then appeared. Woo hoo... not my fault!

thanks for your help Jeff, much appreciated.

Beat me to it, had just seen the news myself on Facebook.

For the moment hardware acceleration is restricted to the Pivos XIOS DS set-top-box as they helped a lot with the port, other devices will be software decode only for the moment. This will certainly open the door to lots of cheap xbmc box options that should be much more capable than the Apple TV

Can't wait to test it out, just got the Nexus 7 as well

I would expect a dock with HDMI out to appear like is available for the Galaxy Nexus, although I've not seen anything announced thus far. It has dock pogo pins bottom left which hopefully allow av out if the micro USB doesn't.

Hello all,

I'd like to be able use powerdvd10 to play blurays directly from the disc using the play disc button in the menu if possible, i've been trying with this xml file i found on the XBMC forum but currently i cant seem to get it working;

<playercorefactory>
<players>
<player name="Disc_Player" type="ExternalPlayer" audio="false" video="true">
<filename>C:\Program Files (x86)\CyberLink\PowerDVD10\PowerDVD10.exe</filename>
<args>"{D:}"</args>
<hidexbmc>true</hidexbmc>
</player>
</players>
<rules action="prepend">
<rule name="Blu-Ray" filename="D:\\.*" filetypes="bdmv" player="Disc_Player"/>
</rules>
</playercorefactory>

All that happens currently is the screen flashes to windows then back to XBMC.

Any ideas on what i might be doing wrong. I'd rather user power dvd than other on the fly decriptors due to the menu support but mainly i dont really want to pay for anymore software.

Thanks for your help

Jon

Can I install 11 onto a seperate partition and just go between 10.1 and 11 or does one HAVE to supersede the other.

Why would you want to? Seems a lot of hassle, though it could be done using portable mode

decided to just get rid of old one and put this on, stable my ass.

So far 10-15 hangs whilst trying to download movie information for library on films and tv series.

Old one never crashed.

Edit
This thing takes soooooooooooo long to download movie information compared to 10.1, this one is taking about a minute per film oO

Edit 2
Make that about 5 minutes per film.

This is taking the ****, why is XBMC 11 (aka eden) so damn slow.
