Great news, after getting a DVB-S card earlier on this year then seeing BBC **** off to DVB-S2, I was a bit pee'd off, I like some of the Freesat channels so didn't want to go just DVB-T2 only.

I'd sell my Hauppauge and Compro right now if I could!!

Thanks to the OP for the spot.

Hello everyone,

Ive had some news from BlackGold regarding bulk purchases.

What they say is that I can get a discount of approximately 15% off the retail price by buying in bulk. The only problem is that they will only supply a discounted set in blocks of 10.

That means it wouldnt be possible to buy, for example, 16 cards and get a discount on all of them, we would have to get 10 or 20 or 30 and so on.

Im waiting on further details regarding exact discount etc, but bear in mind we will still have to pay delivery and whoever organises the group buy, whether thats me or someone else, will have to include delivery to every member as well, so effectively delivery has to be paid twice, once for the order from blackgold and once when each card is sent to the buyer. Ive not yet asked if they will drop ship each one to you direct, but I would not have though they would do that.

Ill let you know when I hear more, but for now, excluding delivery costs the card is £154.80 including vat so i guess the discounted price will be somewhere around £131.58 inc vat

If you look at the mounting brackets you'll see there are three cut-outs for the obvious 2 x F-Type and 1 x Belling-Lee RF connectors LNB and aerial feeds respectively)

However you'll see a 4th cut-out, and also a small square block on the card that aligns with it. This block is a socket into which you plug a cable into for analogue baseband (i.e. not via RF) capture.

I think it's a multi-pole Mini din-style connector, as BlackGold analogue capture is both composite and component/RGB (though I think SD only)

oh my god. i bought a 3595 from BG last week. i cant even find it on their site now. You'd have thought that given I was buying a t2 tuner card and i lived in the UK, they might have had the courtesy to advise me of this forthcoming card? there was no mention of it on the site.

I've contacted them and asked for help.

'Burn' marks

Looks a bit like the distorted reflection of a black box on some tripod like legs to me

Fingers crossed this one doesn't break like my BGT3595!

Would be interested in the group buy, was looking at a dual DVB-S2 card for £75 but suppose this is better value

Any ideas what the power consumption is like on one of these bad boys? Have only got a 250W PSU

What was wrong with your 3595? Mine most times take about 5 minutes before I can get satellite in WMC7, almost like it needs to warm up! Not really got around to investigating the issue though.

Can't see power consumption be any different from BlackGolds previous quad tuners, and they've been fine with my 250w power supply.

A week or two after I'd got the 3595 one of the diodes in the LNB power supply decided to fail. There was the sounds of electricity sparking, then the smell of burnt electronics and the PC rebooted

As for your delay time, it could be that your LNB is getting old and needs some time to get the electronics in the LNB working correctly - especially if it's one of the multi output LNBs.

Do you have another satellite tuner you can try? It'd at least tell you where the problem is.

Mine worked straight away, well until the diode decided to make a bit for freedom

I can only wonder what 160+ page thread spawning machine you are running to have a 250w supply

Am slightly concerned by your comment about being slow to initialise, does that mean that recordings fail?

Also never really figured out if it was tuner hardware or 7MC that meant that channel changes were quite slow in comparison to say a Sky box or freeview tv.

My previous card worked perfectly, fitted the 3595 and the problems started. I have since changed my LNB to a Quatro as I've fitted a multiswitch system, but this made no difference, and sometimes it's the Freeview which has no signal for a while.

No one else has mentioned the problem I'm having in the 3595 thread, so I would think mine might be software/driver related, or just a fault with my card rather than a common problem, I need to find the time to investigate further. Curiously I've never had a recording fail since this problem started, which is odd because I would have thought they'd fail often given the nature of the problem.

Anyway this is off topic for this thread so I'll leave it there.

hi guys

sorry for no updates but I havent yet had anything worth reporting from blackgold, obviously the card is not available yet so I guess thats why. Unfortunately, I may myself have to pull out of the group buy and focus my money elsewhere. Not sure yet but if that happens, I need someone to take over dealing with them. If someone could let me know they are willing to take over then in the event I can no longer do it I will pass details over to that person.

Cheers

These cards look to be exactly what I'm looking for, is there any mention of price yet?

Good question, at the beginning of this thread is the retail price for a single card and mentioned a little later is the group buy price for quantities of 10.

Than you for the prompt reply, I must be going blind as I did check for a price throughout the thread but completely missed the post saying £129.

Has anyone noticed that Blackgold have quietly put the price up of this card even before it has been launched?!?!

The website now shows it for £139 + VAT + Shipping

they probably got handed an inspection fee at customs. If your container gets stopped to be checked, you have to pay Maybe they didnt factor that in.

That's a lot more than previous cards, I've bought the last two quad tuner cards and they came to less than that including delivery and vat.
