Problem playing VOB's

Hi folks,

OK, this issue seems to get done to death all over the place, but I can't find a solution that matches my problem!

I have a mediapc running windows 7 pro and cannot get it to play vob files in either media player or media centre, it displays the message "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file".

Up until recently I had been running vista on this pc and vob's were fine, but now I've upgraded/rebuilt I think I've missed something/messed something up.

During the rebuild, I installed ffdshow and haali for mkv's and they all work fine, thats it. I haven't installed any other players or codec packs, I like to keep it clean! The other thing I did was to run the MSDU app to replace the mfc codec with ffdshow to make sure it gets used in preference.

I will also have installed gspot and mediainfo.

Browsing to the vob folder shows icons as a single frame from the vob (think this is done by mediainfo).

Using graphedit, it maps the video stream as...

VOB -> MPEG-2 Demultiplexer Vid -> Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder -> ffdshow Video Decoder -> Video Renderer

... and clicking the play button in graphedit plays the movie fine.

I have also rebuilt the other media pc's in the house which get used as 'extenders', all using windows 7 with just ffdshow. They play the vobs fine, the only difference here is that they haven't had the msdu app run on them, yet.

I want to use FFDShow for it's tweaking and integration with the MediaControl app, but how can I get it to play vobs as well?

ffdshow version : rev3078_20090917

Help!!!

Chris

I have a fairly similar problem, but not quite the same.

I can play .vob files through WMP / 7MC, the audio works fine, but the picture is just black.

Everything worked fine in vista, I have not touched the drives containing media, just formatted OP drive and installed 7 with FFD etc
