Onkyo celebrates being number one home cinema brand

It’s official... the GfK figures have been verified, the conclusions have been double-checked... for the second Christmas in a row Onkyo is the UK’s top-selling home cinema receiver manufacturer.

• Onkyo took an astonishing 30.3 % of the total 2007/2008 UK home cinema receiver market (now worth just over £39 million in total annually).

• In value terms, Onkyo receivers accounted for double the value of the No2 brand and significantly more than the No2 and No3 brands combined in October 2008.

• Onkyo increased its sales (by value) in the month of October 08 to 30.9% of the total UK home cinema receiver market (in October 07 it was 25.9%).

• The UK’s top selling home cinema receiver in October 2008 was the TX-SR606.

'It’s an amazing success story but entirely understandable when you consider the excellence of the products and the incredible effort of the UK sales, support and administration team,' says David Anderson, Onkyo UK’s general manager, 'When the company’s UK office was established in 2002 we made no bones about our aims - we said that we were going to offer high-performance, well-specified products at great prices for consumers... and that’s precisely what we’ve delivered.'

'What is especially pleasing for us is that the total market for UK home receivers has grown from around £30m in 2006/2007 to £39m in 2007/2008, a near 30% increase, much of which can be ascribed to Onkyo’s sales success. That’s a trend we aim to repeat next year with our new range which will boast an even more compelling mix of leading edge features, audio-video performance and, of course, unbeatable value for money.'

I'd like to see numbers on the graphs and who the other contenders are - they're sort of meaningless as they are - Onkyo might be leading by 0.0001%

Seems fairly straightforward to me .Market £39m .Onkyo`s share 30.3% = £11.8m which is " double the value of the number 2 brand " . So the number 2 brand does less than £6m = 15.4%. Therefore Onkyo is leading by at least 14.9% . But who is the no2 brand - Yamaha ?

Rightly so and well done to Onkyo i say .

The first manufacturer to include hidef processing on their receivers and at sensible and varying price points; have any other manufacturers included hidef processing yet? i personally havent looked as i am happy using the 705 as a processor

Again well done Onkyo for being innovative, first to market, and giving the customer what they want

Re: Onkyo celebrates being number one home cinema brand

One thing that can be improved on is the horrid remote Oh & USB on the back as well as the front... who wants to have a cable hanging out of the front with the flap down on the 905.... Apart from that Onkyo rocks and the tech support is absolutley 1st class!!!!!!

Well done Onkyo...
