Post Samsung scales back LCD expectations, talks with Sony ongoing

Deteriorating trading conditions worldwide have prompted a cautious Samsung to scale back its growth projections for the year. The world’s biggest LCD TV maker says it now expects global sales to increase by 10 per cent, down from an earlier projection of 15 per cent. Yun Jong-yong, Samsung Electronics Chief Executive, blamed: [...]

Deteriorating trading conditions worldwide - what do they mean by this?

Re: Samsung scales back LCD expectations, talks with Sony ongoing

2 factors probably.

1.people are skint, strapped for cash, bills coming in,and the credit cards/mortgage companies are knocking on the door.
2.people already have an lcd,and dont see the point in buying a new one every few months, when new models are released.

...And if you buy a samsung it's going to be faulty.

The new A656 already has faults in the USA with the tv switching off and back on.

Maybe if samsung made tv's that worked.

Every samsung model that has come out seems to come with bugs, they need better QC and beta-testers.

I have 3 Samsungs at home, my dad has 2... All bought within the last 3 years and not one problem... The same can be said of the SD-DVD players we own...

I guess some people are just luckier than others...

Re: Samsung scales back LCD expectations, talks with Sony ongoing

Since I joined avforums all I 've seen is faults with samsung lcds.

The M87 and similar having no end of problems like Freeview judder and samsung took a long time to fix that with firmware and the fix introduced other problems. We got the F86 which has problems and now the new 2008 6 series which has bugs like switching off and a remote control that has a dial that skips menus too quick.

The dvd recorders are not good at all having owned the sh855m for a month. Complete poo.

Personally wouldn't touch a Samsung LCD as I have yet to see one that impresses when it is swiched on.

Don't be fooled by the plastic casing. It's the quality of the picture that counts.

Re: Samsung scales back LCD expectations, talks with Sony ongoing

The occasonal good one ships to a customer.

I own 1 samsung product and that is a microwave oven with fan assisted convection and grill.

You can use the grill with the door open.

It is 17yrs old, is used most days and on the same oven bulb.

Cooks a Fray Bentos Steak and Kidney Pie in 11mins with convection heat+microwave. (I don't like the Kidneys though)

But then electronics are dfferent to ovens.

samsung also make liquid gas tankers which work but they are a bit more expensive than a tv.

My last and current lcd's have been samsungs and they havent had a problem. They have an excellent picture and Im very happy with them. Maby because everyone has a samsung (because they are so good) that some people complain. The M87 range has a thread with over a million views so that shows how popular they are. Just because you had a bad experience dont paint us will the same brush.
