I heard about this format a year ago, and still there is no new information about it. How are they making money to pay their staff wages?

Re: HD VMD ready to take on Blu-ray, apparently

no but i am not the target market either, and i dont have blu-ray or Hd-DVD so the fact i dont have one is not important, the important bit is the potential market....

Re: HD VMD ready to take on Blu-ray, apparently

Fair enough but as you say,the format is pushed more towards the Bollywood end of things....and thats what it is a Bollywood playerlets face it i would imagine the asian country's bar (japan, hong kong, china etc) they have not even heard of HD or able to buy a HD tv because of the very low incoms.

I dont think they have any chance o taking Blu-Ray on or infact DVD's in that part of the world,it will stay around like VCD's

Re: HD VMD ready to take on Blu-ray, apparently

If the asian market want a HD format that isn't blu-ray they could still approach Toshiba for HD DVD. I'm sure they'd let them have a good deal to get some money back. There might have been a chance a few years ago but blu-ray is now getting cheaper in price too. I can only see this being a two horse race between DVD and blu-ray now.
