CES 2008 - Panasonic are living in High Definition.

Panasonic produced a press conference one would expect from the industry giants. Key issue for the company was the foundation of an environmental alliance with Sharp and Toshiba to safely dispose of unwanted analogue components. This new company would be named MRM and would help state and federal targets for emissions and safe disposal. Also important to the company is how consumers live with the new High Definition products now available on the market. The company has picked 17 US families from a range of various social backgrounds and kitted them out with the very latest flat screens and video cameras. The result has been real feedback from the people using the products in everyday life that the designers and engineers can focus on to help improve and better the experience for everyone. A short film has been produced to highlight this initiative in the US market with the number of families taking part rising to 100 very soon.
In terms of what to expect when the show opens tomorrow (Monday 7th) are an enhanced line up of products which are easy to use and intuitive to the consumer. Announced was the worlds largest SDHC smart card (32gb) capable of holding 5 ½ hours of 1080p HD material and although big on storage it was tiny in the flesh.

New screens would be making an appearance with four of them sporting THX certification. This confused me slightly as to what has been certified but hopefully we will get an interview from the company soon. Panasonic stated they were also a front runner for Blu-ray with their profile 1.1 player the DMP-BD30 with smart card slot and the company also boasted the worlds first all in one BD home cinema system!

More details from the show floor soon.

Really? I didn't see/hear about this?! *a little excited...*

I couldn't find anything running a search on Google, do you know where it may have been announced? Thanks.

I am at work at the mo so will have a proper look at lunch. However, if you search for the *PZ70 thread in the displays section you will find mention of Panasonic displays handling 24FPS stuff fine.

Re: CES 2008 - Panasonic are living in High Definition.

Thanks for the advice. I ran a search on PZ70 and low-and-behold, there's a link to a press release.

Fantastic news... most support 24p, full 1080p screen. I'm very pleased (and soon to be very poor... )

The new commercial panels (I have a 50PF10) has the new 2 X HDMI board (at an extra cost) which supports 24fps!

Fantastic and works like a dream!

Look at the Sony Bravia X3500 or for a Panasonic one of the TH-50PZ00
