In a move designed to boost Blu-ray sales during the festive period, Sony Computer Entertainment is to embark on a PlayStation 3 campaign designed to stress its BD disc playing chops.

well i'd imagine performance wise and future proofing.. there's not going to be to many blue ray players produced (outside of ones in pcs) that will have as much processing power.. i havent seen them in action but apparently standalone players have much slower disc load times...

Well it's about time. The PS3 is very good choice for bluray because of the constant upgrading and not a bad dvd player either. To convince families (not just game players) to spend this kind of money Sony should have pushed this ages ago.
