Re: Samsung takes wraps off Blu-ray HD DVD player

Ohh..I want one! Amazon are listing them for about £530 (with a 4-6 week delivery window!) and which is tantalisingly close to to the price of HD-XE1 which I was about to buy, can I wait that long???

Re: Samsung takes wraps off Blu-ray HD DVD player

You'd be better off buying an HD-DVD player at the end of the year for a hundred quid, then if you fancy it get a blu-ray player for about the same.

With Tescos selling DVD players for £9 and set top boxes for a tenner, £530 starts to sound ridiculous.

Re: Samsung takes wraps off Blu-ray HD DVD player

It's all about the spec, those £100 players are going to be nowhere near as powerful as the top end, have the backwards and forwards compatibily support all the audio formats via HDMI AND analouge, play both major HD formats in one..If I wanted a £9 DVD player I would buy one! One does have a to have the rest of the setup to justify it, and fortuntaly me I do!

Well i just think the software needs to be more affordable, £25 a disc is too steep, not that bothered about the hardware so much.

I agree on that one, I'm renting them from now from lovefilm as they have a good selection of both BD and HDDVD..

Re: Samsung takes wraps off Blu-ray HD DVD player

hmm i think i will have 4 of these at that price, its a real bargain...

I have 4 TV's so if i wanted one of these players in each of the rooms like i have DVD players in there at the moment it will only cost me £2400.

Now that is what i call a bargain...

Thanks but no thanks, i will stick to my DVD/Sky HD and WMV HD!!

Re: Samsung takes wraps off Blu-ray HD DVD player

Hi all

Is the dual sammy likely to have phono outputs for audio? And even worse is it likely to output dts-hd master via the phono's?
