That can't be good. It was pretty much rentals of VHS that did for Betamax.

Hope they improve how they treat discs smallest marks seem to make discs freeze and lock up not very good format for rental state some of discs I have rented had to be seen scratched lines on discs a lot of them not good they will soon get fed up people saying will not play as they lock up and freeze as people dont care if it is not one of there own discs dont seem to treat them very well I had one with teeth marks poss dog got it it did not play well.

I read somewhere that blue ray discs don't have a protective layer unlike HDDVD and it's information is deeper down in the disc making blue ray discs not great in the rental sector.
