This is somewhat true, I buy lots of TV seasons and it bugs me that I find them a pain to fit in my DVD cupboard. The worst offenders was the old Star Trek boxsets which came in some stupid massive case made of plastic. They've started to make them slimline now and re-released them with better pricing. I have two of these and its much better.
I have 8 seasons of SG1 however that are all big cases and they fill up nearly a whole cupboard by themselves!
