Post Free bigscreen LCD with every PS3

In a calculated effort to inject some excitement into the launch of the PlayStation 3, Sony gave away 46-inch Bravia LCD TVs to the first 100 in line at a London store. The huge giveaway is said to have cost the Japanese brand 250,000 pounds in stock, but delighted those who had taken the time [...]

Angry Re: Free bigscreen LCD with every PS3

Thats great for those who live in London but what about the rest of the UK - this sort of trick alienates the rest of the PS3 buyers with more bad feeling towards Sony who have already treated the UK / Europeans like second class citizens - down graded spec of PS3 + it costs more + we had to wait for it - the list goes on.

Everyone who moans about the TV giveaway is just jealous. Excellent promotion, and boy, I bet they had grins on their faces.

Re: Free bigscreen LCD with every PS3

Interesting how the posts saying other people are jealous come from folks within easy travelling distance of London ...

It would have been far fairer to have offered a couple of freebies at other regional capitals as well - or do the Scots, the Irish, the Welsh, etc not deserve anything compared with Londoners?

Plus, there's no gainsaying the fact that the PS3 is feature-lite and pricey compared with what other countries have received.

The feature lite as you refer to above relates to backwards compatibility and the fact that they have removed hardware emulation and chosen to do this via software with consequential issues - they have done a cost cutting exercise on the PS3 and whats worse is that we in the UK / Europe seem, from what reports posted elsewhere claim, pay more an inferior product spec when compared to Japan / USA units. Don't get me wrong I don't have an issue with backwards compatibility but for those who do have a requiremet to play old games then I could well understand their frustrations with Sony.

Incidentally I have an Xbox 360 and PS3 and to be honest don't see much difference in capabilities between the units other that the former has more software availability due to it being released a lot earlier. Personally I think Sony have a lot of catching up to do here with their new PS3 - its okay but not sensational or an order of magnitude better than the X box 360.
