Post Toshiba HD-DVD deck to have HDMI 1.3 output

It's now confirmed that Toshiba's 'step-up' HD-DVD player, the HD-EX1, will have an HDMI v1.3 output. This means it's capable of producing the Deep Colour system for extra colour range that the HDMI 1.3 connection is capable of - though of course, you'll also need to equip yourself with an HDMI 1.3 TV...

This HD is starting to hurt below the belt (the wallet)

So basically what I gather is that we've all forked out a fortune this year for these new HD-Ready TVs with HDMI and now we're told the connection is not up to full HD Spec, ie. we've only got HDMI 1.1

Well what difference is there to be HDMI 1.3 with a compatible TV?

Can HDMI 1.1 not be upgraded with Firmware??

So - back to the drawing board!!!

need to see if that all singinging Amp with HDMI Switching and upscalling supports 1.3 - and guess what - there are no screens available that support 1.3 and more than likely won't be until mid 2007!!!

I think that this is starting to get on my nerves a little bit now

Re: Toshiba HD-DVD deck to have HDMI 1.3 output

But as the discs are only encoded in 8 bit (not the 12bit capability of HDMI 1.3), AND there are no deep colour displays what on earth is the point...?
