Panasonic announces first Blu-ray HDD recorders

Panasonic will introduce the first Blu-ray-movie compatible recorders with an integrated hard drive into the Japanese market on November 15. Its DIGA DMR-BW200, pictured above, (with 500GB HDD) and DMR-BR100 (with 200GB HDD) models record HD on BD-RE rewritable discs and can dub from the built-in hard-disk drive (HDD) to BD discs at 4x speed. This is disappointing. I can accept that there is minimal high def content to record but a high capacity disc recorder would be nice. At present I use the excellent Panasonic EH60D Freeview/HDD recorder to record from TV (in XP mode). But to put programmes on a disc and transfer them to my PC upstairs I need to cut them up into hour long segments. Copying to a BD25 would save me lots of time.
