I don't know if I have missed something in the build up to HD broadcasts but as I understood it I had assumed that Sky at least were not allowing it's HD broadcasts to be recorded, at least when connectect through HDMI cables. I thought this was a bit off for anyone who paid a subscription but was not able to see the broadcasts live and needed to timeshift them. If this is the case what is the point of HD recorders? Sorry if I have the wrong info and please let me know if this is not the case as it will influence me as to whether or not to subscribe.
Many thanks
