Following is the press release from Sony about its new range of noise-cancelling headphones…
”Sony announces a new breed of headphones for people who take their music-on-the-move seriously. Sony’s latest range of snug fitting earbuds and headphones utilise the power of ‘noise canceling’ technology which reduces background sound and delivers crystal clear audio, without the need to turn up the volume of your PSP, WALKMAN or portable DVD player.
The MDR-NC50 headphones are Sony’s top of the range offering reducing ambient sound by around 14dB and cleaning up 4/5 of the background noise. Ideal for long-haul usage, the NC50s showcase a slim swivel-folding design for smart and compact storage and feature an adjustable double head-band for premium comfort. A cleverly built-in Monitor switch allows the noise-cancelling circuit to be deactivated at the touch of a button so ambient sounds can be heard without taking off the headphones. The NC50s also come with a standard stereo jack and a dual jack in-flight plug for enjoying in-flight music services.
The MDR-NC6 noise-cancelling headphones reduce ambient noise by approximately 10 dB, and provide a quieter environment to enrich audio entertainment. These lightweight and well-styled headphones are the perfect accompaniment for the Sony PlayStation Portable, ensuring the sound quality enjoyed while gaming is equal to the visual excellence of the PSPs vibrant screen resolution. When the noise-cancelling circuit is powered, up to 68% of background sound is cleared allowing users to become fully immersed in the gaming experience - even when surrounded by the drone of an aircraft, coach or train engine.
The MDR-NC11s are Sony’s only noise-cancelling earbud style headphones. They are available in both white and black and provide an ultra compact solution for blocking out background sounds. They are supplied with three different sizes of earpiece, to ensure a good fit in all ears and maximize their passive ability to reduce unwanted noise. They come with a noise-cancelling On/Off switch and a volume control on the battery box and are equipped with 9mm driver units. The NC11s also have an earphone holder and a pouch to keep them protected when not in use and a dual jack in-flight plug for enjoying in-flight music services.
For music lovers who put an emphasis on style, Sony has released the MDR-EX90 in ear headphones. The futuristic styled buds feature 13.5mm driving units and deliver ultra high quality sound through the neodymium magnets. They also showcase metal housing material to prevent unnecessary vibration and encourage a strong bass frequency. The tight fitting earphones will help to cancel noise passively – though no active noise-cancelling system is featured on this model."
