Following is the press release from Sony about its new home theatre surround sound system – conveniently built into a TV stand…
”Opting for home theatre surround audio can be an intimidating experience. The RHT-G1000 Integrated Home Theatre System does away with all that. There is no need to hide metres of cabling, or find somewhere to put the sub-woofer, or mount speakers all around the living room. Everything necessary for top-quality home theatre audio is discretely concealed in what appears to be a base unit specially styled for a BRAVIA™ TV. The only cabling is the mains lead. Installation is simplicity itself.
From the outside, the G1000 is tasteful and plain, and gives no hint of what lies within. But just because you can’t see them doesn’t mean the G1000’s audio muscles do not pack a punch. Quite the opposite. At full throttle, the integrated S-Master™ digital amplifier and multiple speakers can pump out a full 600W - not that anyone is likely to need that sort of power in the living room on a regular basis.
Power without precision is wasted, which is why the G1000 makes use of S-Force PRO Front Surround digital signal processing to immerse the viewer in a detailed and convincing virtual soundscape. The interplay between the four positional channels and the sub-woofer is digitally enhanced to bring out the full depth and potential of soundtracks recorded using surround sound technology. The G1000 supports the Dolby Digital, dts (Digital Theatre Systems) and Dolby Pro Logic II audio standards.
The underlying strength of the G1000 is Sony’s unique S-Master Digital amplifier. This is the key to the richness and clarity of the sound, which is what marks the G1000 out as something rather special. It’s the sound that will get it noticed above all else, since the clean, understated design is extremely versatile and will harmonise with a variety of décors.
The design is also highly practical, with twin shelves for existing AV equipment, not to mention multiple connections for it at the rear. A single remote gives users effortless control, and there’s a choice of black or white finish to suit individual requirements and TV styles.”
