Samsung has unveiled two new AV receiver home theatre systems: the HT-AS610 and HT-AS710. Comprising multichannel amplifiers and speaker sets, the two systems stack up like this:
HT-AS610
The HT-AS610 system features a 600W digital amplifier, which decodes Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II and DTS, and a 5.1 speaker system.
The HT-AS610 is housed in a sleek black casing that complements Samsung’s latest DVD players.
The HT-AS610 will be available in April 2006, probably for around £250
HT-AS710
This one boasts 750W (100W x 6ch + 150W sub) of audio power, and a 6.1-channel speaker system. It’s also equipped with a so-called ‘AnyNet Interface’, so that users can control other Anynet-enabled Samsung home theatre equipment. The unit also features both HDMI input and output (HDMI switching), with the HDMI input facilitating the future addition of a set-top box, video game, or other HDMI equipped device.
Apparently the HT-AS710 is XM satellite radio-ready, allowing subscribers to enjoy an enormous range of audio content in an immersive hi-fi environment.
The HT-AS710 is supposedly going to be available in the UK in March (though given some of its specs we’re slightly sceptical about this), probably selling for somewhere in the region of £450.
