Hitachi planning to triple plasma production

Despite the current growth in popularity of LCD technology, Hitachi has announced in Japan that it intends to triple production of plasma display panels by the end of 2007. This marks a much faster rate of production than previously planned, and is apparently due to 'the market's strong growth'.

The production rate is now targetted at 300,000 panels a month by the end of next year compared with 100,000 now - a target level Hitachi had earlier announced it only intended to reach by 2008. Let's hope this increased production leads to yet another round of price cutting...
