QED rolls out new high performance power cables

Following is a press release on QED’s new ‘Qonduit’ high performance power cables…

”Armour Home Electronics is pleased to announce the release of QED ‘Qonduit’ Performance Mains Cable. The new cable, which has been tested by the British Standards Institute, is a high quality, shielded Class 1 IEC (C13) regional power lead, designed to enhance the sonic performance, and complement the integrated styling, of modern hi-fi and home cinema systems.

Questioned about the design philosophy behind the new product, Armour Home Electronics’ Technical Director Steve Privett stated; “QED enjoys worldwide acclaim for its speaker cable and interconnect designs. Our approach to high performance mains cables has been similarly uncompromising. Good science, the latest technology and the best materials all combined to produce this outstanding product.”

He continued, “We are completely confident the new Qonduit mains cable delivers a level of performance unsurpassed by any competing product. In terms of value, we believe Qonduit will out-perform cables costing up to four times as much!”

Qonduit Performance Mains Cable’s three cores are each constructed from eighty-four strands of 99.999% Oxygen Free Copper. The resultant high cross sectional area allows for high current delivery whilst remaining flexible and forgiving.

Three separate, independent layers of PVC insulation are interspaced with OFC copper braid and an Aluminium Mylar Foil to produce a highly effective, dual anti-interference screen. This reduces both induction and emission of RF interference and electromagnetic radiation.

The IEC connector is a custom designed, ergonomic, two part PVC over-moulding, incorporating twenty-four carat gold plated contacts for decreased connection impedance.

QED ‘Qonduit’ Performance Mains Cables are available now in both 1.5m and 3.0m lengths. The UK suggested retail prices for the two cables are £40 and £60 respectively.

Visit QED for more information.”

I've got to say he has a good point!

Having said that some good screening makes a hell of a difference when your mains cable is running over your interconnects or speaker wires.

Anyone now where I can get some reasonably priced short (max 1m screened mains cables?

Have a word with Mark Grant in the cables powerbuy forums, I use one of his mains cables and am very impressed with the quality.
