Was waiting on an item (Denon 1920) from them.

Luckily bought on 12 months credit so that has just been cancelled.

I worked for this company for a few years until last week. I think this will be the first of many to go. All people want these days is to use the stores to see products then pump staff for info the go and buy on line. We had 7 stores with knowledgable staff who would strive to offer good customer service. I have had customers in my store spend an hour with a member of staff then the usual quote "its cheaper online". So no doubt this will continue and stores will continue to vanish until all you will have is currys & dixons. I used to enjoy my job but a lot of people are now so arrogant and purely want to purchase on price alone that after 15 years I feel that I am well out of it, Also if anyone is stupid enough to think that the margins on these products are high then guess again, we were making less than 5 % on most plasma screens

It's perfectly natural for somebody to want to have a look at a product and also to want to buy it at the best price. That usually means going to a store to have a look/demo and then buying it online. Fortunately there are some places that have good prices and will do a demo (Nexnix/Discount TV/AV Sales), the problem with the large chains is that the customer service is usually crap and they charge the highest prices. If they were half reasonable when you have a problem and didn't charge top wack all the time then maybe they'd get more business.

One year ago, they held the Sound and Vision franchise in Harrods and were one of the UK's biggest online dealers.

And yet, if you follow a link to one of the pages in their site, they still work, and still allow you to buy things (or so it seems. You can add things to the basket, and probably checkout)
http://www.unbeatable.co.uk/CatalogueItem_26063.html

That's very naughty if they are still allowing people to proceed with purchases.

After all, many people will follow a link from an external site (like pricerunner) or a recommendation in this forum or another, direct to a particilar product, and wont see the front page.
