Sony unleashes new designer Walkman

Following is the press release from Sony on its new Walkman MP3 player, nicknamed the Bean…

”Sony proudly introduces the latest music and fashion must-have – the new WALKMAN Bean range of MP3 players. With their fresh ’n’ funky curved bean design, cool colours and quick and simple music transfers, they are set to be a number 1 hit this summer. Available in black, white, pink and blue*, the MP3 players are ideal for the most fashion conscious of music lovers who want to be a step ahead of the rest.

The flash memory based Sony WALKMAN Bean range can store over 45 of your favourite albums (or around 700 songs) in a cool music player that’s smaller than a cigarette lighter. Even with such a compact design, the WALKMAN Bean products still have over 50 hours of battery life and can offer 3 hours of playback from a 3 minute charge – ideal if you’re living a busy lifestyle.

Moving songs from a computer to a Sony WALKMAN has never been easier. Each of the WALKMAN Bean players features a pop-up USB jack, allowing users to plug it directly into their PCs, cable-free. When listening to music, track and album information is easily navigated using Sony’s ‘jog shuffle’ controls and can be viewed on a bright 1-line organic LED display.

The Sony WALKMAN Bean range of flash memory MP3 players is available in both a 512MB (available in black, white and blue*) and 1GB (available in black, white, pink and blue*) storage capacity.

The WALKMAN Bean range can playback both ATRAC3plus and MP3 files and ships with SonicStage 3.2 music management PC software, providing seamless access to the “CONNECT” online catalogue of more than 700,000 tracks and albums available for download.

* Limited edition blue only available from Sony Centres and online at sonystyle.co.uk.”
