Re: Sony slims PlayStation 3 console

I appreciate why they're making this move, and very much hope it achieves what they want it to.

But... if anything goes wrong with mine, and I get given one of those, then I'm not going to be a happy bunny I'm most definitely not a fan of this new look.

Me too.

If my phat breaks (heaven forbid), I'll demand a replacement phat.

Re: Sony slims PlayStation 3 console

Should've held it against the current model.

Looks okay possibly a bit cheap, a slim toaster still.

Re: Sony slims PlayStation 3 console

Hmm looks like it will be a lot quieter as well. Time will tell. The download service will need to be better priced than iTunes and include HD audio for me to bother using it and I doubt the HD audio will available.

Re: Sony slims PlayStation 3 console

Why oh why have they only put 2 x USB ports on again!

My original 60GB has 4 ports and they are all in use (playstation eye, wired headset, USB hard drive and charging cable for pads). All they had to do was stick 4 ports along the front and another 4 along the back. Wouldn't of cost them much more surely!

I don't think I'll be replacing my original with one. Especially as certain saves aren't transferable to another console (Rainbow Six Vegas 2 for example).

True. But hubs can cause issues with headset audio. Plus it's more mess. Much easier to just put more on the PS3. What with Play TV, Playstation Eye, usb music and videos I'd of thought Sony would of realised there's a demand for more ports.

Be interesting to see if Sony offer a solution to transfering locked saves to encourage sales to existing owners. With the time people put into online gaming now, there really should be a solution to this. I'd be gutted to lose the days and days worth of time spent ranking up in Rainbow Six if mine dies. I do backup of course, but that only protects me if the hard disk fails for locked saves. If I try to restore to a different PS3 those saves are lost. Happened to 3 of my friends I play online with who got the dreaded yellow light of death and had to start over from scratch.

Re: Sony slims PlayStation 3 console

Dammit!
Why did I have to buy mine last year.
Though I forseesome overheating issues...

I'm guessing that it will be around £180-£200, based on a quick convert.

At that price, the Wii and Elite may have another lower priced competitor, which may drive all the prices down
