nVidia 8200 Purevideo IGP vs. ATI IGPs with Avivo

Hi All,
I have a Gigabyte GA-M78SM-S2H which has a nVidia 8200 IGP. This would allow me to send 8 channel LPCM which is nice, however, I'm not so sure over the picture quality for upscaled DVD and Blu-Ray.

The upscaled picture looks soft. This can be made better using ffdshow as a post processor, but then removes any hardware acceleration. I have a 4850e processor, so CPU usage gets pretty high. I have read that the nVidia 8 series do not have the necessary hardware for image sharpening, so they have removed the ability from the drivers.

Has anyone compared the picture between nVidia cards and ATI cards? I'm wondering whether to either get the GA-78M-S2H (or sideport equivalent) or an ATI card in preference to nVidia.

Cheers

Tim

Noise reduction and edge enhancement should be at the bottom of the list under 'adjust video image setttings' in the driver control panel.

Not sure if the IGPs are supported, thy used to be though.

Thanks for that. Had a play around with it, but reckon I get better results using ffdshow.
