Post Five new channels for Freesat this week

The channel line-up on Freesat, the UK's free-to-air digital satellite TV service, will grow by five this week, as a handful of new services launch on September 16.

But there’s little coming that will excite AV enthusiasts, and no sign yet of an increase in Freesat’s much touted hi-def support.

Four new TV channels will join the Freesat EPG: The BBC's Gaelic language service BBC Alba, Asian pop channel Zee Music, shopping outlet Best Direct and the automotive shop window The Audi Channel. A radio service, Planet Rock, completes the upgrade.  read more »

Re: Five new channels for Freesat this week

Wetting myself although I do like Planet Rock.

Bit of a joke really when it comes to HD. Before Freesat came out it said you could get 100's of HD quality channels. What do we get, part time BBC and now and again ITV.

Wish I lived in the USA where you can get over 120 HD channels+counting and no additional charge for HD that $$$$ky charges.

Cable HD, sat HD and ota HD plus HD radio.

This country is backward when it comes to technology.

Re: Five new channels for Freesat this week

I currently run a free-view and Virgin box setup. Can you believe I have to pay £75 for a V+ box and £10 a month extra just to watch one HD channel - BBC?

Re: Five new channels for Freesat this week

I'd love to see something like freesat taking off, I hate paying my $ky every month.

Re: Five new channels for Freesat this week

It'll be nice see the prices for Freesat receiver prices drop further.

Re: Five new channels for Freesat this week

i got freesat installed just because of the HD,Bought the HD receiver with a shiny new 1080p lcd tele only to find that the HD receiver will only set to 1080i,the question is there auto upgrades to receiver from the manufacturer through the FTA at sometime or other,i can get 720p ok.

Re: Five new channels for Freesat this week

The box only supports 720p or 1080i so you will never get 1080p.
