Post Pay-to-view DVD coming to a Sunday newspaper near you soon

Look out for a new Pay-to-view DVD scheme this Autumn, launching in the UK through the Mail On Sunday. Devised by a company called DVDPay, the newspaper’s familiar DVD movie freebie will offer a second film which can only be viewed when paid for and unlocked.

DVDPay says it is negotiating with the Hollywood majors Fox and Warner for appropriate back catalogue titles which still have some purchase appeal, and is going through final testing of its encryption technology.  read more »

I would think not, as there is no return path, so they would not know how many times you have viewed/used the code. Can`t see this working to behonest unless they manage to get some top films, although with no validation etc the security isn`t going to be great so would probably worry movie studios. Anyone know how it`ll work, ?serial number on disc which is used to generate "unlock code", standard code for all discs or codes all fitting same algorithm but not tied to any specific disc
