Post Guitar Hero transitions from game to music format

It’s beginning to look like there’s a hot new audio format in town. It’s elbowing CDs and MP3s aside, principally because it commands a higher retail price than both and is effectively pirate-proof. Some might even see it as the eventual savior of the music industry. The format in question is…Guitar Hero. Increasingly, Activision’s runaway console [...]

Re: Guitar Hero transitions from game to music format

Have to say that I'm a big guitar hero fan and depending on the cost I would defo buy new albums that came with the music cd and also a PS guitar hero playalbe DVD.

Once again Metallica are ahead of the game - I'm surprised that Prince or Bowie haven't picked up on this one too - they're usually on the ball as well.

Pricing will be the deciding factor to make this a success

Re: Guitar Hero transitions from game to music format

This will never happen.

So what they are saying is that in the future, in order to listen to new albums/singles, everyone will have to have a games console with a copy of guitar hero and be willing to play every song just to hear it properly?

What utter drivel!

They do realise that Metallica have more than likely realised the extra sales potential they will have by releasing their new album for use with GH, along side CD - dont they?

Must be a slow news day in the industry

Bowie does not rip his fans off unlike Metallica. That is the difference. Bowie never bows to trends either. He is his own trend.

Dragonforce's sales went sky high after TTFAF gained popularity, I'm sure that's the case for other artists/songs too
