Viable Career Change

Hello,

I'd be really grateful if someone could give me a bit of advice as to whether what I'm thinking of doing is viable?

I've got a long history in electronics, software, and IT security, including man and project management skills.

What I'm thinking of doing is taking the CEDIA installer exam, and maybe doing the business course, and then setting up business as an installer, not limited just to AV, but home automation and so on. I'd then also hope to fairly quickly take the CEDIA designer certificate.

My worries are:-

1. Can I do it as a one-man band?
2. With my other skills and the exam would this be viable, (the only home AV installation I've done is my own speakers and amp, though I have walled the wires)
3. I'd want to work in the North / midlands but I'm not sure if the volume of work is there
4. Would there be a resonable amount of money in it?

If anyone has any advice on this, I'd much appreciate it. I've got a pretty good career at the moment, I just think I'd enjoy this more, and working for myself.

But if it isn't viable, I don't want to opursue it or pay for the CEDIA courses.

Any information would be very much appreciated.
