Subscriptions to Home Cinema Choice

Was attempting to subscribe to HCC, but on investigation I find these costs:

Price for Ireland customers:
Price: €115.81

Price for UK customers:
Price: €65.09

The difference is: €50!!

Now, I can expect to pay more because of the shipping costs etc, but if you divide the 115.81 by 13 issues it comes to €8.90

......but I can get it in the shops here in Ireland for €6.50ish - an extra €2 per copy.

My incentive for subscribing to this magazine is?

Ireland gets caught between a rock and hard place on this one. The postal services see it as part of Europe and charge the European rates for postage. The magazine distributors see it as part of the UK, so newsstand sales go through the normal UK distribution system. Hence the disparity in prices.

Re: Subscriptions to Home Cinema Choice

Thanks for your comment, its still very frustrating though and you have to wonder why would I even bother to subscribe when it would cost me so much more.

What makes it more annoying is that 60-100 miles up the road in Northern Ireland, they would get it for the Price for UK customers:Price: €65.09, while I have to pay double. (We are on the same Island, and have to be serviced by planes/boats and I have to pay double.

Re: Subscriptions to Home Cinema Choice

Just to add - Im certainly not knocking the magazine's content as I think its excellent (now it has been revamped) and actually want to subscribe to it, but its just a joke!

Anyone from the magazine on here want to comment?

In the same boat as yourself Max, only started reading it recently, and given any incentive would subscribe in a second. There's nowhere local to me that stock it, so post would mean less hassle.

And you usually get it a week before advertised release date as well.

You should get it in Easons' in Ireland, but are you also living in London (your sig) - you should be able to get it then?

True enough, but I'm living in Waterford right now, out in the middle of nowhere, no Easons close by . Moving across the pond more permanently in a couple of months, so I will subscribe then, but I'd like to get it here while I'm about. My brothers a fan of the mag too, so would still look for the years sub.
