Filmstar mag is no more.

Looks like Blackfish publishing has gone(possibly) and taken Filmstar and Deathstar with 'em. Tough times I'm guessing.

There is a disclaimer HERE .

5 issues, I had high hopes for this rag too. Oh well, that leaves Total Film and Empire.

Read last month's and was quite impressed. I did wonder when the new issue didn't arrive at my local Tesco this week. Empire it is, TF is just like The Sun of film magazines.

Re: Filmstar mag is no more.

This is very unfortunate news, Filmstar was more interesting and better written that either of its competitors (Empire/Total Film).
It really is tough times for publishers at the moment, circulations are plummeting and ad revenue is also falling, especially as we are all guilty of expecting everything for nothing, via the internet. Don't forget it was only a couple months ago that HD Review magazine also folded.

Don't forget about Sight & Sound. They don't review many DVDs but they do cover every cinema release. I find it makes a good companion magazine to the likes of Empire.

Re: Filmstar mag is no more.

Darn it! I had bought every copy to date and even just cancelled my 4 year subscription to DVD & blu ray review magazine in favour of this as it out- classed most other movie mags.

Shame

Re: Filmstar mag is no more.

Damn. Well, that's me relying on online sources. I think TF is dreadful (it seems to be written for the 'yoof' market) and Empire has been getting worse year on year (canceled my sub to it about two years ago, and the few copies I've bought since while traveling have not altered my opinion).

Keep fogetting to buy this, it is definitely aimed at the other end of the film fan market.
