having been house hunting recently i've realised that I will not ever be able to buy a house with a living room the same size as the one in my RAF married quarters (around 20sq/ft) and so i've decided to downsize my 5.1 home cinema to a 2ch hi-fi. I listen to it in 2ch with music most of the time anyway!
I have a full set of 5 Morduant-Short MS series speakers.
The 2 mains are MS815 floor standing speakers, they have a titanium high frequency tweeter, a 3"X6" mid-base and a 6"X9" base speaker, they will handle up to 150w rms and have a nominal impedance of 8ohms.
The 2 surround channels are MS805 stand mounted speakers, they have the same tweeter as the mains (and the center channel) but have a round 6" mid-base speaker, they handle around 100w rms and are 8ohms impedance.
The center channel has 2 4" mid-base speakers and the same titanium tweeter as the rest and will handle 100w rms with 8ohm impedance.
all speakers can bi-wired (the center can be tri-wired)
all speakers are in very good condition and have been very well looked after. they really do sound very nice with a very detailed and (what I would describe as!) "sparkly" treble with very good bass punch. they drop very low in the bass too due to the cabinet volumes. they suit music very much but can also (in conjunction with a decent av amp) hapilly shake your windows (I can show you them doing this!!) when watching an action film.
The amplifier is a Sony STRDB930. dolby digital/dts 5.1 in great condition with no marks on it. it puts out 7X100w rms (5 descreet channels with an extra 2 for either a multi-room setup or bi-amped main speakers)
If someone were to want the lot I would throw in my sub for nowt too! it's a 400w rms monoblock amped forward firing subwoofer from tannoy. quite old but I hadn't found another sub that out-performed it without having to spend a fortune!
I'll get some decent pics up tonight cos i'm at work at the moment but price-wise I was going to ask around the £450 mark for all 5 speakers plus the amplifier. I can't really split but I might consider it if the price is right. or I will P/X the lot for some castle speakers (or similar small floorstanding hi-fi speakers)
