When I had the B&W PV1 and after placing a Granite chopping board (£10) from Tescos it did reduce the vibration a bit, so I'm convinced and besides for £13 odd pound, I say it's a good upgrade.

Re: 1/2 price subwoofer Granite square base
Hello Wayne,
It does come flat packed, the hole in the centre measures 3/4", I must say the edges does not have a very good finish but for £13 - I don't think I'll be complaining as long as it reduces some vibration.

Re: 1/2 price subwoofer Granite square base
It does not look too bad actually though I might spray it all black if such spray exist for granite I probably also fill the centre hole up with a bit of filler.

Re: 1/2 price subwoofer Granite square base
Picked mine up last night. I changed my mind and got the square one instead. It weighs around 10kg, 3/4 inches thick and the hole is not a problem.
I'm not going to bother painting or filling the hole as it will take to much time and effort and is not necessary. Thanks to the OP as I was looking for a granite plinth substitute and did not want to pay over the odds.

Re: 1/2 price subwoofer Granite square base
My first post since joining. Wished I had found avforums long ago. Thanks so much for this tip. Brought two this afternoon as I have two Rel Strata 111,s in my set up. It will be a while before I can comment on sound improvement as I am currently installing all wiring in walls and upgrading certain peices of kit to hdmi. When plaster is dry and decor complete we shall see. This was also the easiest upgrade to get past a long suffering av widow. I have promised her that if they don't improve the sound she can use them in the garden

Re: 1/2 price subwoofer Granite square base
I have sealed the hole with bit of ready made filler borrowed from the Father in Law job well done.
I did not bother with spraying or painting it.
After placing the granite piece under the sub, the bass seems a lot more tighter and deeper (so much more that I'm even considering reducing the gain on the Sub Amp) it has also reduced the vibrations on the door.
What an investment - now, that's value for money
Thanks again to the OP

Re: 1/2 price subwoofer Granite square base
most supermarkets with lifestyle sections do them as well as argos (perish the thought!) ... I've actually got a few of them on my kitchen worktop for chopping and tea/coffee prep area to protect the worktop from waring - didn't need them in the living room as I own the carpet (and house!) and spikes get through to the concrete floor on my REL Q100 - although the PMC GB1i's spikes don't quite make it under their own weight.
Sainsbury do them - they also do some table placemats (295mm x 210mm and 8mm thick) I think the bigger rectangular ones ( 400mm x 300mm and 15mm thick) are finished better and darker than the Argos/above posted pics. and I think were under 10 quid when I got the placemat sized ones for my coffee grinder to sit on.
What about paving slabs , 300x300 or thick ceramic or stone tiles ??? !
...p.s. was actually searching Google for a 2ft 'ish granite or stone pillar to replace small brick posts supporting the wooden posts for my porch cover. Anyone got any info to share on that subject !!!
... also seems you guys are giving this link a hiht status in Google !!!
