Was just having a look at these again and noticed Amazon have bought the two free discs deal back - handy for those wanting a cheap route into Blu Ray!

The DTS Re-Encode feature over optical makes this a fantastic player for those of us with older AV Amps too....

Indeed a great player and even if you don't want the films they both have reasonably high resale value on Amazon... i reckon the net cost could be as low as £100!

The BD-P1600 (it's technical replacement) is rather cheap at £172 as well, no free films though... but it does internally decode DTS-MA now and does WiFi!

Well, I took the plunge today. I was initially distraught to find the amazon price for the P1500 had gone up almost £20 overnight. I ended up going into Richer Sounds in Glasgow and bought the Samsung P1600. The RS manager was happy to price match Robert Whyte ltd (also a Glasgow retailer) for £154.99. He was still happy enough to do this after I told him Robert Whyte were out of stock, but were expecting new arrivals on Friday. So in the end, I got the P1600 for £144.99.

I also got nice new HDMI and premium optical cables from RS, and a couple of blu-rays from HMV (die hard 4.0, Hancock - 2 for £27 with my 10% studetndiscount). I watched die hard 4.0 tonight with DTS_MA re-encoded to full bit rate DTS. WOW! Picture and sound were amazing

I am a very happy camper!

BD-P1500 now back at £119 for those that want to move quickly.... or as per the above and my other thread on here, the BD-P1600 is only £139 on Amazon, but with no free films
