Hi
Just been to Currys to try and get the deal above - to be told there are none in stock and we would have to order and wait weeks.
On the off chance - called into the Sony Centre (Trafford Centre) and got the Sony KDL40V4000 with 5 yr warranty AND free blu ray player BDPS300 for £699 - bargain!
There was a wait on this though - 4 days so pick it up on Friday |

Quick update, received my TV after just 2 days waiting, I'm dead impressed with them so far.
Regarding the S300......well I was told 4 weeks wait. I spoke to them yesterday to see if I can update to the S350...even if i have to chuck in a couple of extra quid myself.
Sony Ctr in Trafford Ctr told me that at the moment they've got a backlog of 42 people waiting on the S300. They have been allocated 10, and no more. He said bearing in mind the S350 is released on 1st September chances are I'll be getting one of those anyway.
I'm hoping that this is the case and I'd be made up! So, just got to wait for a few weeks and hopefully I'll get the S350 I'm after..

Cheers to the OP. Went into a non Sonex Sony Centre and they agreed to do the S350 with the TV for £699. Went away to think about it, phoned up a Sonex owned Sony Centre who confirmed they'd do a 5 year guarantee with an S300, went back to the other Sony centre said "They'll do the TV, blu-ray and a 5 year warranty" so they said OK, i could have the warranty too
That was the clincher but it means that I have no movement to upgrade in the next 5 years or my girlfriend will kill me :D
Now i've just got to get used to not having 100hz its making me dizzy whilst watching the new TV!

Sorry to sound a bit ignorant, but how much of an issue is the 100hz thing? Im about to buy a tv, and was looking at the sony tv/blu-ray offer. For an average tv viewer, upgrading from a prehistoric goodmans 28 inch widescreen, am i likely to notice the 50hz refresh rate , without having seen a 100hz one to compare it to.
In otherwords, shall i go for the sony offer, or pay a bit extra and buy a 100hz telly without the blu-ray. Ive got an overall budget of around £700.

Yea, saw this offer in the SonyCentre at the Trafford Centre.
Was thinking of selling the blu-ray player to lower cost of TV a bit.

If your eyes are sensitive to flicker, then you'll find that a 100hz set will be better as it doubles the "refresh" rate at which a scanned line is displayed. I guess an easy way to determine how snsitive your eyes are to 50hz is to set the refresh rate of your monitor to 50hz and see if you can tolerate it. I'm fairly sure i've adjusted to it now but whenever you buy something new you tend to be hyper critical of any perceived shortcomings, regardless of whether they actually exist or not!
I'll have to see if i can watch Spidey 3 tonight to determine if its still affecting me after i've changed a few settings (noticed that the display wasn't set to "Display Full Pixels")

I bought the same deal from the Trafford centre on Friday. Hopefully they will include the 350 blue ray player.

Hi. Bought KDL40v4000a and BDPS350 at weekend. A bit disappointed in the picture when playinh blu ray disk. Generally very good but when camera pans across screen image appears slightly juddering. Its hard to discern and maybe its because of the refresh rate. This is my first HD tv and blu ray experience moving from CRT 28" panasonic. Any suggestions on how to fix or am i being too critical. Thanks. Any help greatly appreciated.

Only just seen this thread - I went for this deal about 10 days ago and I called yesterday to check on the situation with the Blu Ray player. They confirmed that I would be getting a S350 and more stock arriving later this week. (Trafford Centre)
