Re: Denon 3805 for £289

As much as it appears to be a good price, Denon stopped all its authorised dealers selling over the web. As a result any which are sold in this way are probably a grey import and will not have any warranty cover in the UK. So buyer beware!

Re: Denon 3805 for £289

not necessarily a major bad thing

the 1st 12 months warranty responsbility are that of the retailer you bought the goods from - not the manufacturer

your contract after all is with the retailer not the manufacturer

afaik anyway

MArk.

But if Denon do not support the retailer then it'll be a tough job to get any repair or replacement done "under warranty". A retailer is nothing more than an official go between and any warranty offered is normally done in full knowledge that the manufacturer's warranty can be called upon to help resolve any issue. Without that the retailer is putting both himself and his customer at risk.

If Denon were like any other (reputable) manufacturer I'd be keen to ensure my warranty turn around was well managed, quick and error free. But a read on these forums will reveal that Denon's official distribution and authorised repairers is nothing short of shambolic and a disgrace with many units being returned in a damaged condition and faults often not fully rectified.

On second thoughts, an unofficial repairer couldn't do any worse!

Looks a bargain!

Re: Denon 3805 for £289

spoke to Denon earlier - don't take all of this for red though may have got some parts wrong - not feeling very well atm

Digital direct are not authorized sellers (apparently- according to the Ladies list)

which means they either bought from

(1) UK Wholesalers or

(2) EU Wholesalers

in the case of (1) Digital Direct would have to send back to UK Wholesaler they bought from - for them to get the warranty work done.

for no. (2) - the lady said she had no clue how the warranty work would be done !

Re: Denon 3805 for £289

I would imagine the retailer has to provide at least 2 years warranty supportt according to EU legislation.

Although this is a Netherlands website it concisely describes the applicable law Click Here

Re: Denon 3805 for £289

on hold for only about 1 min

lady was more than willing to discuss warranty repair/grey imports etc which I was quite surprised about

she implied there are ONLINE retailers who sell Denon stuff that ARE authorized dealers - wonder which ones.

still at 289 seems a stonking price

but less so I suppose if you are waiting 2 months for it to get fixed ?

not sure
