Tesco Toshiba HD-EP30 bargain

Hi all,

Just saw that my local Tesco (Canon Park: Coventry) has dropped their price again so that the HD-Ep30 is £179-97 including the free 5+2 DVD deal. I know there's some trouble at HD DVD headquarters, but this seems a pretty good deal to me.

I also noticed that Tesco's also have a DVD sale on with (eg) Superman Returns for £3, Gladiator for £4 and Casino Royale for £7 amongst others.

Why 'luckily', Rich? HD DVD's not dead yet, mate. Anyway, the bump here is in honour of the fact that Tesco's have reduced the price of the HD-EP30 again to £179-97 and as long as you go to a big store they'll also give you 1179 Tesco clubcard points.

Just a quicky on the Clubcard point.

What are they actually worth? What will you gain out of it for example, if you don't mind me asking. £10 of Groceries? 24 Cans of Lager, packet of crisps

My Tesco Clubcard should be arriving soon since I've moved and Tesco's is now my local Supermarket

Re: Tesco Toshiba HD-EP30 bargain

Pity Tesco don't sell the EP35, I'd go pick one up! Nice price for the EP30.

Its only that i couldnt see £200 (well, £199.97) worth of difference between the EP30 and my HD DVD add-on for my xbox 360, thats all.

Mind you, the up-scaling of the EP30 was some of the best i have ever seen, so if it drops below £150 then i might consider picking it up again...

Hi. I'm a relative newbie myself. Never really liked the idea and hated being asked whether I had one each time at the checkout. Anyway, you get one point per pound spent. Each point is worth a penny so if you buy stuff in store or petrol it's like getting a 1% discount. You can get extra points for special offers and also (I think) cashback. The interesting part is that, instead of redeeming the points in store you can get four times the cash value traded against any of Tesco's clubcard deals (listed on the tesco.com). There's a surprising number of things to buy including RAC breakdown cover, airmiles, weekend breaks, and my favourite Vouchers for Cafe Rouge. So, eg, the 1000+200 point deal with Tesco for the Hd-EP30 equates to a £48 voucher at Cafe Rouge, RAC etc etc (or £12 discount at the checkout/pumps). Tesco have a new joint clubcard/creditcard, actually, that gives extra points and a year's interest free credit. So the current deal means you can get a very nice HD player with 7 discs; £48 in vouchers; and 12 months interest free credit for 180 quid. Not bad.
