50" PANASONIC 1080p Plasma TH50PZ700 TV - £967.10 delivered

Just spotted this over on HDUK.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_...rds=th+50pz700

Not sure if this is a misprice, but I've placed an order for one. So we'll se what happens but does seem to good to be true.

"Edit" Have now cancelled my order, since discovering that this is a typing error and they are actually selling a 42" Toshiba LCD. Not such a good deal anymore.

I've ordered one too. Someone on the hotukdeals forum said they rang Pixmania and they said it was a misprice and don't have that model in stock... makes sense as the model is not listed on the pixmania website!

I'll see if i can get through to them to confirm this...

I ordered one yesterday and it seems the money has been debited from my account... so I better get something, preferably not a refund!

Nice one mate, only spotted this today when it was first posted on HDUK. So I guess you are one of the first on the list. Keep us updated on what turns up, hopefully a nice big 50" Panasonic plasma.

Re: 50" PANASONIC 1080p Plasma TH50PZ700 TV - £967.10 delivered

After reading through the HUKD thread and doing a bit of my own homework, I think that this is a typing error. As tical said they don't actually stock this model and it's not listed on their web site.

But for the exact same price £937.10 (coincidence or what) they are selling this TV:-

http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/6489...elevision.html

Apparently Pixmania are notorious for doing this sort of thing, so I've cancelled my order as I don't want the hassle of having to return a TV I don't want and then chase for a refund.

Good luck guys, I hope some if not all of you get the Panasonic TV's as advertised and if you do I'll be gutted that I didn't have the bottle to see it out .

The thread has now been deleted off HUKD also.

Re: 50" PANASONIC 1080p Plasma TH50PZ700 TV - £967.10 delivered

Looks like the price has been mixed up with this Toshiba one - http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/6489...elevision.html

What is the law for things like this? Do they have to honour the advertised price?

*edit* Must have been typing as you were!

Not sure if they must honour the price, but it does state on the confirmation email:-
Quote:
For items purchased from third parties in Marketplace, zShops or Auctions, this e-mail confirms the completion of your contract to purchase those items.
So it sounds like you've made a contract to purchase said product at said price. I'm not a lawyer by the way, far from it .

If it is the wrong TV then refuse delivery and get the courier to take it back to sender. Otherwise I think they ask you to pay for return delivery and insurance.

Re: 50" PANASONIC 1080p Plasma TH50PZ700 TV - £967.10 delivered

I checked my on-line account with Pixmania earlier and they were indeed about to ship me out a Toshiba LCD . I rang Pixmania and told them of their mistake and insisted they ship the correct TV or another of equivalent specifications (after she suggested I might have a Samsung PS50Q96HD (nice TV but not in the same league as the Panny).

She insisted the error was with Amazon but she would talk to her supervisors and get back to me (still waiting!) So I contacted Amazon and they insisted the error was with Pixmania and they only advertise items supplied in a database directly from Pixmania. They suggested I cancel the order and contact Pixmania directly. I pointed out to them that I ordered in good faith and that I expect the TV as described... they then said that if I continued with the order and Pixmania could not fulfil their part in the contract, then I might possibly have a claim against Pixmania as the purchase contract was covered to a value of £2000. However, as they thought that as the item had not yet been sent I may have problems. They again suggested I contact Pixmania.

So there we are... the second (or is it third?) installment of this amazing (Amazon?) soap continues tomorrow

Well at least that confirms it. Pleased that I cancelled now.

Keep at them GLTD and hopefully you may get a satisfactory outcome, Pixmania need to be held accountable, they seem to be doing this sort of thing a lot.

Perhaps if they offered the PS50P96FD instead, that would be a better compromise, still not as good as the Panasonic (from what I've read).

Good luck tomorrow.

Re: 50" PANASONIC 1080p Plasma TH50PZ700 TV - £967.10 delivered

I too have placed an order for one of these. Given the buzz on hot deals before the post was pulled (market place deals are not strictly allowed) I would be amazed pixmania don't contact me to cancel. At least two other people have called them and been told that these tv's are not available. I have my amazon confirmation email and now another from pixmania saying how greatfull they are for my business. Wiil follow this thread with interest.

I agree the PS50P96FD is definitely a closer match as far as spec goes, and would still be a great deal at £968.77. I'll see what they say when I suggest that!

@GLT56 - How long after you placed your order with Amazon did the confirmation of the order come from Pixmania? Or did it just appear on their site in the "Your Orders" section? Also did the order within Pixmania specify the Toshiba set?

Just checked Amazon again and the price has disappeared - Best price now is £1850

Re: 50" PANASONIC 1080p Plasma TH50PZ700 TV - £967.10 delivered

(Lower) Mispricings by Amazon will result in Amazon cancelling any order and informing the buyer. Not sure about third parties, but I guess they'll be under the same umbrella terms and conditions as Amazon.

What we do about mispricings

Despite our best efforts, a small number of the more than 1.5 million items in our catalogue are mispriced. Rest assured, however, that we verify prices as part of our dispatch procedures.

If an item's correct price is lower than our stated price, we charge the lower amount and send you the item.

If a product's correct price is higher than our stated price, we will cancel your order and notify you of that cancellation.

My order with Amazon was confirmed by email on 01 January 2008 14:38:32. The Pixmania confirmation email was 01 January 2008 18:30:13, but no item description was on this email. I checked my Pixmania on-line account around lunchtime today and the order was for the Toshiba LCD and it was being processed for dispatch.

I have this evening, sent Pixmania this email:

"Further to my telephone conversation with one of your representatives earlier today, the television I ordered from you via Amazon Marketplace was: Amazon.co.uk order number: xxx-xxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxx Items Ordered: 1 of: Panasonic TH-50PZ700 - 50" Widescreen Viera 1080P Full HD Plasma TV - With Freeview Sold by: Pixmania-UK Price £937.10 This is NOT the Toshiba 42Z3030DG LCD Television you seem to be preparing to dispatch to me, so please do not do so. Your representative told me the error was Amazons' responsibility and I have since contacted Amazon who catagorically state they only advertise items in a "database" directly supplied by yourselves, that they are not responsible for any error and that I should contact you. The email I received from Amazon states the following: "For items purchased from third parties in Marketplace, zShops or Auctions, this e-mail confirms the completion of your contract to purchase those items." As this item was purchased from yourselves in good faith through Amazon Marketplace, I would like you to honour your part of the contract and supply the goods as stated in your advertisement. If you cannot do so, I require you to supply me with a television of similar specification to the one I purchased from you. Looking at your website, the only one you seem to stock which is a similar specification is the SAMSUNG PS50P96FD which I would accept at no extra cost. Thank you."

I really did buy this item in good faith and if Pixmania really do appreciate the custom of myself and others, and do not wish to tarnish their reputation, they will also honour the transaction in good faith. If not, there will be some severely negative feedback on a certain site and some nasty emails flying around.... that's for sure
