Kef KHT 1005 speaker package
...I have had these speakers for a while now and can fully recommend them to anyone. However for anyone who's budget could not previously stretch far enough, Richer sounds are now selling the full 5.1 set up for only £199.95!!! In store pick up only, but an absolute steal at that price!!

Re: Kef KHT 1005 speaker package
I've got some on reserve at Richer Sounds, I keep reading that they aren't great for Music, Should i be concerened or is it generally considered poor by audiophiles? I'm replacing my Hi Fi which consists of Cambridge amp, sony cd/md/reciver etc and Mission 701 speakers. Will i be dissapointed with music on the kefs?

Re: Kef KHT 1005 speaker package
I think you will find that it is only the serious audiophiles of this world that knock the Kefs for poor music playback. It always sounds great to me and I have had many friends compliment my set up and overall sound stage. Remember, in general A/V set ups are never going to be the best adverisement for music as that is not its sole purpose. Honestly though, ive never had a disapointing moment with these speakers running off an Onkyo 605 amp.

Re: Kef KHT 1005 speaker package
I think you will find the sound 'tiny' for want of a better word. They certainly aint poor just wont be quite as full bodied as the system you are listening to now, if you don't have a decent surround system to compare against they will sound a million $

Re: Kef KHT 1005 speaker package
They were 199 quid on the internet site, you could get that price if you went in store and asked during that period. They've gone back up in price since then to 249 online. I bought them and to be honest, once you switch the sub onto 'music' mode for all uses, they are great for an average room. They are not quite the full dedicated 'Home Cinema' speakers, I'd look at the more meaty 2005's for that, but for what they are, and the price, even at 249, they are pretty darn good.

Re: Kef KHT 1005 speaker package
Keep your eyes open at some Currys stores, someone at the one I work at today bought a Kef 2.1 system that was previously £999 (It's Currys so they were overpriced in the first place, but still) for £150. Had I found out about it I'd have been there like a shot but he got there first.
