Fortec Star Passion Hi Def Satellite Receiver ..

Just gone down in price from 199.99 to 149.99 at Maplins ( maplins.co.uk ).
Also if you sign up to their email newsletter you get another 7 quid off.
Also free delivery included, so a HD satellite receiver for 142.99.
Now thats a bargain.

Yes, thanks for this. I too am interested. I have plain old Sky Digital now. Will this allow me to receive all teh Sky channels I have now (as well as of course any free HD channels)? In other words, can I totally replace my current Sky box and use the Sky card in this baby? Thaks.

Re: Fortec Star Passion Hi Def Satellite Receiver ..

Hi chaps,
I think the sky dishes you have now should be ok.
Just take your crappy sky box off and replace with the Fortec.
Then its just a matter of scanning all the channels( free to air ) on 28.2 east.
To receive all the sky paid channels you get with your sky receiver and sky card you will need a dragon cam and pair your sky card to the dragon cam ( easy to do this ).
If anyone buys before me let me know what you think of it.
I don't think the price is held forever so move quick.
It looks a better bet than the Pace and Humax hd receivers.
I hope the fortec works with my dragon cam ( lots of channels, but not allowed to say how i receive them ).

Re: Fortec Star Passion Hi Def Satellite Receiver ..

cheers jacko,
we have our normal sky box downstairs, which is connected to the dish, do you know how much it would be to get the dish connected to another room, say a bedroom?
or can the box just be connected to the standard aerial cable?

thanks

Re: Fortec Star Passion Hi Def Satellite Receiver ..

You will need a dual output lnb to connect more that 1 receiver to the same dish.
You can get cheap 4 output lnb's off ebay.
A satellite fitter will charge you about 70 quid or so ( but its easy to do yourself ) to fit another lnb ( lnb extra ) and cable to another room.
Unless you really need Hi Def for BBC it would really not be worth it ( or like me use a dragon cam for extra channels, but that requires a motorised dish as well ).
