Thumbs up Bargain! Olympus 2.0 mpixel camera for £99.98 or £89.98!

Hi
It may have already been posted, but just in case!

Currys/Dixons/PC World (Same firm)
Are selling the Olympus D380 (actually the C-120) 2.1 (2.0 Effective) mega pixel camera for £99.98!

Picture editing/downloading software is supplied, and 8mb smartmedia card/USB cable/alkaline batteries.
This is until Monday 16/12/02.

But you may be able to get it for only £89.98 as i did

I just took in the advert in todays papers, for PC Worlds "10% off at weekends" offer. (i went to currys etc)

The shops discount code is "reason code 004" if you need it.

They may quote the 10% off cannot be used with any other offer, but i pointed out that reducing the price for a limited time isn't a true offer(ie i wasn't using a discount card etc), as shops change prices all the time.

The manager agreed straight away!

I also bought the official Olympus Digital Accessory Kit at the same time for £27 (£30 etc).
This includes a snazzy neoprene case with three coloured case covers and a memory card "clip-on dongle".
A 16mb Authorised 16mb Camedia (Panorama enabled memory).
And best of all it includes the official NI-MH batteries and charger.
These are the 1700 Amp Hour ones (240%+ longer then standard NI-CD). Four are supplied etc.
These sell for between £20-£30 alone!.

I have been using the camera on my nokia phone whilst doing lots of my little projects, but the quality is lacking.
I was going to wait and get a 4/5 mega pixel when i could afford it, but this was just to good to miss!

I have had a quick go this afternoon, and i can confirm the images produced are fantastic for the price!.

All in i paid about £117!

The above photo was taken using my new toy.

The camera was set to the next to highest setting (ie not Super High Quality).
The 1600x1200 image was then resampled to 800x600 in photo shop.
The photo was taken with the flash off, and the camera in auto mode etc.

PS if Chris Frost sees this post , told you i finished the bathroom.

Fulabeer,

Have you tried fitting the camera in the case that comes in the accessory pack? If it's the same pack I looked at yesterday, then the camera won't fit in it. The salesman in Dixons even showed me. Seperate case for that camera should be about £15 but for some reason they are hard to come by. I ended up buying a cheap pouch/case from Photo Factory for £9. BTW, 7dayshop has a special offer on the charger pack for only £10.99.

Mine came with 3 coloured case "top" covers.
I found the silver was the smallest and wouldn't fit.
The orange one was slightly bigger and fitted (just).
Not sure if they are meant to be different sizes etc, maybe i was lucky!

Bloody hell I wish I had have seen that in time, how much are they normally?

And at that sort of image quality setting how many pics will you be able to fit on the 8 and 16mb cards?

£167 or so, none in stock now tho

I spent 20 minutes on Monday joining Dixons etc to finally come to pay for it, THEN it tells me its out of stock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what type of service is that, wasting my time, even taking all my credit card details

i hate sites that don't tell you stock availability

some are great and adjust instantly when someone buys something, yet some like Dixons wait until you create an account, pay for it then it tells you!

Thanks for the info. fulabeer

My mum was looking to buy a digicam before Christmas so I sent her over to PCworld last Monday - managed to get one luckily. Only problem was that the sales assistant told her that the smartmedia card that came with it will only take 8 pictures so he persuaded her to splash out on a 64mb card aswell (also haggled her into buying a 3 year extended warranty for £30!)

But anyway the box said the original price of the camera was £149.89 so in effect she got the 64mb card and the warranty for free (nearly).

I'll have to see about getting the NI-MH batteries and charger though - I expect it likes to eat up regular AA batteries.

Thanks again m8

Same camera on offer in Argos for £120. Picked one up this morning. Very nice. Also doing the Minolta Dimage 7i HALF PRICE at £449.99, and actually managed to get the wife to agree to me buying one of those. But they're out of stock all over the country (someone's making a healthy profit there....). I can't believe she agreed to it though!!!
