3m of toslink for £6.49

Not on sale, but a decent price. Homebase, of all places, is selling 3 metres of toslink optical cable with 2 extra 3.5mm plug adapters for £6.49. Great for hooking up the MD portable. Why pay more for glass fibre?

What is the length limitation for optical connections. I'm installing an AV unit in my new extension and I'd love to be able to place my amp at one end of the unit and my dvd player at the other, about 10 feet apart maybe.

Hey, hey. 10ft just about = 3m! You can get a toslink2toslink connector at Hombase as well and string 2 together for 6m

Not sure about limits but for around £15, why don't you just give it a try!

www.ardelectronics.com sell 10m Toslink cables for around the same price, without the catalogue though I can't find them on the site.

10 metres maximum for standard TOSlink connections without a repeater. There are more exotic glass versions about which will do at least 30 M (the standard 'glass' fibres are in fact, plastic)
