Thanks: Gave 49, Got 107 | Maplin speaker cable on offer - but any good ?
I suspect not - but spotted it on another forum so thought I'd re-post here
Original 9.99/metre price seems a bit suspect - and 1.5mm seems thin

tbh if its silver plated it can't be that shoddy.

There is still stock of this stuff at most stores, at 99p reduced from £9.99 per metre it's a steal.
I think I'll buy up the stocks at my local on my way home.
I may have some left over if anyone can't find any.
Only other price I can find for this is £7.20 a metre from ClearlyAV
*Edit* There is an ebay seller that has this for £2.50 Per M *Edit*

Thanks, all. Just picked up the last 32m at Bishopsgate store! I must say this does look and feel like very nice cable.
My only hope is that I've got enough (I did not measure up) - the last thing I need now is to run short and have the last few feet, or one speaker, connected by some cheap bell-wire!
Actually, if I do run short, I'll probably split the x4 cable into two and use that for the rear speakers. That should be ok, right?

Yes that is fine - but one of the pairs of cores are unmarked. When bi-wiring this does not matter, as you can tell which is which. However, if you split them, make sure you have a meter to check that you are wiring the speakers 'in phase' or you will get bass suck-out. If your speakers are grounded independantly of the amp (as they sometimes are in a car system), you will blow the amp up!
Enjoy!

Geoff - thanks for the tips.
Maybe I should split the x4 cable into two x2's , lay it out flat and then place a few blobs of tippex at each end of one core. And then double-check!

Yes, I'm sure this speaker cable would be fine for this set-up and I would snap it up before it disappears.
You don't need plugs and can always add them later on.
